Oh trust me he can play both sides he is a true Athlete, Speedy Noil is the truth
Ability v playing at his best
Sure he can play both sides, but will be play either as well as he can if he is 1 focusing on those plays, that position, and only playing half the time?
Believe it or not, College scheme are more difficult and complex than high school ones.

CLM said not too long ago that he should have let PP play some offense...so there...
I specifically said that Speedy could play both sides of the ball just not a ton of snaps each side. Less than honest coaches are going to pitch it to him like he is going to play both a lot which isn't going to happen to any player anywhere.
So there!

Speedy knows how to run routes, he just needs to learn LSUs playbook like any other freshman WR. He has played some WR in highschool but since he was the best athlete they wanted the ball in his hands every play at Karr. Do you remember Early Doucet? He also played Quarterback in highschool but came out as the number 1 wide receiver in the country. He did very well in college.
That still doesn't address the fact that he hasn't played defense before (at least to my knowledge), and still has to learn Cam's FULLY installed system. I wasn't saying he wouldn't be a great WR, because I believe he easily can, I'm saying he's going to be behind at least a year trying to learn two systems while high 4 and 5 star talent is piling up at both positions.

He's a good athlete for sure, but he's no Deion or PP7
well this is one way to ensure he signs with LSU.

There is way more to playing WR than just knowing how to run routes. There are zone reads, blocking assignments, etc.

Early also didn't try to play DB, which takes practice time. This is no offense to Speedy. Like others have pointed out, learning the full offense takes time, which is limited. Taking time away from his practice at receiver to try to learn defensive schemes is just going to be difficult.
