He is big, and when he locks on, he pushes people back. Not too much dominate DL that he went against this year. He is lacking quickness and speed. Very slow!!

Is he? Didn't look outlandishly slow. Probably faster than Williford. I like his frame. Put him in the weight room and take him out 3 years from now and you have a 350 LB road grader.

Those are his highlights, you aren't seeing the bad. He is a bit slow. Going forward he's really good, pass blocking he struggles. That's why I keep saying he'll be a Williford sized guard in the SEC.

Apparently Tulane told him that they didn't have room.
Saw this too, but they may make room. Tulane had 1 of the worst offensive lines in the country, is this a guy they can afford to pass on? I've heard he didnt have a good senior season, what do you guys think?

Im sure Granier is a great kid, works hard, dependable, ... but he is no way an SEC player.
Will never get any playing time with LSU.

If we have a spot I'd like to see him in the class. Needs some work but is huge
make a spot...we need four quality oline prospects every class and 6'7"/330 does not grow on trees. grab a shirt...get jiggy with Moffit...learn technique and system...search and destroy.

quote:no kidding. it's the most difficult spot on the roster to project. so if you got room, and he's got the genetics go for it. If he's a worker, you might get a gem out of it.

If he is slow, the coaches can work on his footwork and make him quicker. You can't teach size. He has the frame and the upside to be a beast. The strength program at LSU will get him stronger and more explosive. He may be a project right now, but he is worth taking a shot on. We don't need him to step in day one and start. Most other schools need players right now and could be the reason they didn't offer. I'd love to see him come here and see what type of player he develops into.

How does Granier compare to Hawkins or Austin coming out of high school? I see similar size and rating coming out of school, just curious how their game compares. Both Hawkins and Austin have turned into some decent lineman. I think Granier is worth the shot if we have the room.

Lets just say this, did anyone give Tuba a chance in hell of ever seeing the court in basketball? I know different sport just sayin! Willford is a great comparison here. No one gave him a chance in hell of ever seeing the field as a LSU Tiger.

You have to watch highlights. You could make an average lineman look like an all American. It is like cutting and pasting. You could have 5-10 outstanding blocks and put them on a high light film. If he was a top notch lineman, LSU would of been all over him. Just saying. He is very smart and a Tulane / Houston / type player.

He has a Bama commitment offer listed on 247, but don't know how bona fide that is.

Honestly, most thought Mo Claiborne would be a special teams player and that Jacob Hester would play fullback. Brian Johnson (OL) out of Tallahassee, was relatively unregarded (3* Rivals) at our level, anyway, and ended up earning 4 letters, started 28 games and made 2nd team All SEC. Jonathan Zenon is another. (And the 2004 class had a slew of them - Chevis and Tyson Jackson, Curtis Taylor - all 3* Rivals recruits).

What kind of senior year did he have?

That's what I thought when I saw his profile. I think we have more depth now then we did at that time, but Josh still beat out some bigger recruits for PT.
