Agreed; walkons no matter preferred or not, are not part of the team. I’ll get a lot of downvotes etc, but it’s just way it is.
Scholarship players have access to far more amenities and are treated with some respect due to investment college has put in them.
Walkons are there to boost team gpa and he bodies.
Hell, there’s a 17 year old that can’t dodge a tree driving a car on scholarship in front of him; not saying it’s fair, just is what it is.

they aren’t paying a walk on QB shite to hold a clipboard.
It's a new world now. These programs have budgets to meet and lawsuits to avoid. Every member of the team is being compensated. Call it a write off if you will. Once the court settlement gets settled and rosters expand to 105, abolishing walk ons, it will be more clear. The Ausberry kid was very publicly known to be paid to walk on just last spring.

They are doing him a favor just by letting him join the team.
This part is true just the same.

Last I checked, you don’t get points in the game for bleeding the team colors…

Wasn’t this the kid from MS who got an Oregon offer before he’d ever played a down in high school?
Not sure why you got Down Votes because you were correct. He did receive an offer from Oregon (pre NIL) when he was in 8th grade. At the time I was as confused as I am today about the offer. Saw him play as a 9th grader at St. Joe, Madison knowing he had been offered by Oregon, and I was thinking WTF. Every third pass was nice but the others yuck. While the linemen might not have been great he had one or two of his travel team receives out there trying to catch.
I think his family was displaced after Katrina (yes well before his time, but his parents moved). I meet his dad once or twice (he loves cigars), don't have any memories good or bad. My wife knew his wife a smidgen more than I knew the dad. (No Pics of either) and nobody's loss.
Anyway, he played at my "kids" school for a couple of years in Madison before going to Hartfield in Flowood then back down to BR. Hope he does good and lives up to the hype.
