That said, The big problem with this is nobody in these kids lives are preaching humility to them at any point in their life. I am not butthurt about losing this kid, LSU will survive. I am pissed that he did not have the courtesy or decency to let someone else live their dream and get the scholarship. I guarantee there is somebody out there that is the one Surtain screwed with his Diva moment. Somebody else out there had to settle because of his immaturity but he will never figure that out.
The bigger problem is he is not the only one like that and the system we have encourages it.
Do any of the Rant out there remember Saban having any signing day surprises that went against him? He dont allow it. I would support LSU in moving on in some of these cases or being prepared to leave the spot open for the next class/transfers. In this case we needed a CB badly and now we have a hole in the class.

Saban had a few last minute signing day decisions that didn’t go his way this year.

Can you imagine having the best coaches in America come to your home and recruit you? Then Ed comes in ? It all sounds good but the great coaches help you remember his record as a head coach....yea....umm tough decision. I love LSU but if you take that out of the equation, no way I come play for O. None.

I can promise you PS decision to sign with Alabama was decided months ago. He did not flip at the last moment.

frick him (Surtain) after 2 years of Raymond recruiting him and at the 12th hour, his reason is "culture, coach and championships"? I get it but it comes across like it was an overnight revelation. Love that Jarvis called him a groupie...

It is because of social media and the spotlight it provides them. ESPN and Rivals have created a huge problem with recruiting that makes it play out longer than it needs to be.
It has made many of these recruits primadonnas and they like to wait and say in front of the camera on national TV, “ I’m taking my talents to”.

Its probably stability of coaches. O is not a sure bet to be here in two years. Bottom line is talents like him can make it to the NFL either way between either school and like another poster said. his dad and him probably asked themselves, where do they think they can be the most successful
I don't understand the mentality of fans sayin f** this person because he choose someone else over LSU. It is what it is, but its the kids life and decision in front of him. If he thinks one place will provide a better opportunity for that then good for him. Of course this last minute decisions effect everyone, not just LSU. Bama saw it with a couple people this year.

Surtain sr didn’t just realize bama wins ships and neither did jr. He committed to bama and Saban told him to keep his mouth shut about it. U need to have a coach that can overcome that. O blew the Florida game in 2016 and several games this year. Look at will wade. Lsu was the laughing stock last year in the sec. now with next years class they will sign the tops in the sec. O doesn’t have it simple as that. Saban did and he did the same when he came here at Lsu.
