People say that those three from Monroe don't make or break LSU and they are correct from a on the field standpoint but a perception is a whole different story all together and perception is a lot of what fans and recruits base their opinion on

Where did all this unsureness come from?

The fact that yall still think Sims is the reason why Cam went to Bama astounds me. Look at the way he's acted since then and the way others have lied during recruiting this year. Cam went to Bama because he wanted to play for Bama period.

sounds like we're a little more selective.
Well, I do think LSU needs to cast a wider net and I hope this year taught them their lesson. Not at the WR position specifically but at OL and DL. Bama DGAF about hurting recruits feelings because they offered someone else at their position.
The process should be seen as mutually beneficial, not as "please come here we need you" type of deal. It should be "we want you but we're prepared to move on if another talented player wants your spot." And you can only approach it in that manner if you offer more recruits. They just need to work harder plain and simple, and that likely means getting more boots on the ground, which costs $$$.

I guess my thing is if both Ellis and Sims were playing for LSU - all other things aside, would the program overall have been better off in regards to the other dominoes.
You guys are killing me right now. Speedy liked TAMU's offense better Ellis being there was definitely down on the totem of why he went there if it was even a fact. Him lying for weeks/months and you believe the Ellis garbage? Listen to Cam, dude doesn't do that shite for anybody but himself. He was Bama all the way and Sims going to LSU would have not made a difference.

Goldrush. Great post. Youre reading my mind.
Too many ppl on this board dont give any insight. Bama does a lot of underhanded stuff. But they are also cutting edge when it comes to what is legal. They just throw a lot of money in the legal part. Lots of GAs and ex HS coaches doing work. Our ticket revenue almost equals theirs. Out recruiting expenses nowhere near .

Is it? I mean tre white and brandon Harris. But yeah we getting the shite end in nla.
White started as a true frosh. Harris could too. Sims, hootie and crob would not start as true frosh. Not at bama or LSU.

Most of this is just hindsight. how do we KNOW the sims thing had an effect...because that what happened. This does not mean it was knowable when LSU made offers.
In addition it is important to understand that Bama and LSU do not recruit the same way geographically. LA is the only major school in state. Bama has Auburn to compete with. LA generally produces more talent.
LSU relies on instate guys to camp because it gives a solid idea of who is serious and a better way to evaluate. If you are a stud Louisiana recruit but don't want to camp at a the state school that is not that far from your home...that is instructive to the staff at LSU. it should be. It's a smart way to recruit.
I think LSU needs to do a better job of selling state pride and state ties to state recruits. it may seem cliche but in a state like Louisiana it is an important point that recruits need to know:"You are from here...not there. If god forbid you are injured or this whole thing doesn't work out...you will most likely move back and live here...not there. By staying you can have every goal in football fulfilled...and a state that will take care of you if you don't." It's a lesson that guys like Luther Davis learned the hard way. Not meant to be harsh...it's just truth in a state like Louisiana. It's unique...we should use it more,

I think we're lacking there to start with. But for an "outsider" to come in and try to instill state pride it would just wouldn't work. Plus, being from NLA, it really is two different states. That is an obstacle. HS coaches make it much less of an obstacle.
("outsider"= someone that doesn't live or hasn't lived in the community/region or from that HS. Does not refer to origins specifically; e.g. Frank Wilson would be an outsider in Winnsboro)
ETA: relationship with the coaches is where TAMU, UTx, and Bama use their boosters effectively. A lot less limits, virtually none really, by the NCAA.
