He's now the principal, and they have a new coach. I don't think they're doing great. Not horrible, but not great. Brabham was the man!

Played against Micah Shilling when he was there. They beat us for the State Championship my junior year. He was 41st overall pick I believe. Played 2nd base for them and had a quick bat. I remember he took bp with a wooden bat. Never made it in the minors. Hell of a high school player though no doubt.

Skip likely said it many times to many players Slim. He was a piss and vinegar fellow at times.

That's what I was thinking. He probably used it as motivation several times and usually got pretty good results out of it.

You know everyone that went to Silliman? I also challenge you to move to Clinton and enroll your kids in the fine Louisiana public school system there.

Will Andrews walked on at Auburn, finished out at Mississippi College with David Dart. Matthew Dart Pole Vaulted for LSU. Ross Cockrell was a walk on punter b/t 99 - 02. I can't remember where Shannon Dawson played (small school) & Trey Bullinger helped lead the Cajuns to Omaha I 2000.

Used to be in the same district as Silliman back in the LISA days.

Back in '01 Oak Forest Academy had a stud tight end, I believe his name was Chance Stevens. Went on to play at Harding University in Arkansas. After his sophmore year he transferred to LSU and tried to walk-on, but Saban told him white boys who played in MPSA are pussies. True story.

The End

I went there for like, 2 weeks, In a sudden move (family died and had to help with a business). I was literally the 5th white kid there and the other 4 whites were the trashiest people in that school...

I know several that went there and have attended 3 graduations over the past decade. All the kids I've met have been snotty rich brats or rednecks with a little money. You don't have to live in Clinton.

I was there 7 years. If he doesn't know what you're talking about, then...

I mean, there were a couple of middle class. Like, the teachers or lunchroom ladies' kids. A few upper middle class. Like the hitt family. Most were well off. Like the schillings.

Most stay in that same clique for years because they don't get along with other people. You can spot them as easily as a Catholic high kid.

I'm from Jackson. Graduated from Jackson High (now East Feliciana High School), the schools were what you made of them. I knew kids that transferred to Silliman because they actually couldn't pass classes in the public schools. I also knew kids that were at the public schools because they couldn't make it in the private schools. I knew a bunch of guys that went to Centreville. I agree with other people on here, the Silliman group always seemed like a frat/sorority training ground. If you were an athlete around there, it was best if your parents pulled strings and got you into West Feliciana or Zachary High Schools for sports.

It wasn't just silliman, though. Parklane was like that. Centerville, oak Forrest, parkview, catholic.... All of them have them and but they all have people who just get along with everyone. A lot of tiger land bartenders are/were from those schools.

I know a few girls from Silliman and I always get the sense that they were passed around like a cheap whore from guy to guy but they felt like they were part of a crowd so they didn't mind. One in fact told me she was raped at a party in an RV by a guy she went to school with but later became friends with him. No amount of therapy can help that.

I was there for 11 years, granted I graduated in 1996 so things could be very different now. My point is that the majority of my graduating class of 36 kids was from working middle class families... was there rich kids of course it’s a private school, no more than is at any other private school across the Baton Rouge area... was there rednecks.. a couple... again just like any school in south Louisiana.

I don't anymore... but when you’re a kid growing up you tend to live where your parents decide to live. My parents still live outside of Clinton and have since they moved there in 1972

Nobody has to live in Clinton. So sending your kids there vs the alternative isn't a tough decision. You could easily move. I understand you didn't have a choice but parents who send their kids do. You acted like there was no alternative.

If it was such an awesome school you'd have more people with money moving up there to enroll their kids.

I think our point is that there's a sense of self-importance there regardless of the "rich" part. Sure, it doesn't come from every kid, but every class had about 5-10 cocky POSs, 5-10 hero-worshippers, and 10-15 normal kids (all of whom were white until 1999). I'm sorry you're so naive, but that percentage is nothing like other private schools in the baton rouge area.

I was in elementary/middle school at Silliman, then went to another private school in Baton Rouge. Night and Day.

For some there isn't really an alternative, at least not a realistically better one. Some jobs can easily be changed, others not. Some people can move for their kids to be near a better school, while others can't. I will say that I didn't really understand why the richer parents sent their kids there, but for others it's just the best available option.

Also, Taylor bunch played some rb/fb at Mississippi st I think.

As for mpsa, will overstreet played at Tennessee and was I believe a third rounder. He played at Jackson prep.

The thread initially wasn't a shot at MSPA in general but a football talent evaluation of just Silliman based on irrational comments an a-hole I work with (Silliman grad) made about his son and other football players through the years. I was aware of a few baseball players who made it to the college level and beyond but no football players other than a guy who went to Auburn in the 90s that he brings up every year during football season. I think we have covered everything and pissed off enough Silliman loyals in the process by stating facts.
