Agree but these kids do take English don't they? Shutting down in the way Thomas said it, means over, no more calls please thank you. It doesn't mean shutting down until "fill in the blank" calls. All attention. Don't blame the kids. Let them have fun.

This far out it doesn't mean anything when a recruit "shuts down" his recruitment. If he's not taking visits in the fall, then that means a lot.

It's like the girl you really like that keeps telling you no every time you ask her out. It just makes you want her even that much more

Mr. Loyalty

On April 1, 2017, Cherry committed to LSU. And with that, Cherry’s recruiting saga came to an end. There would be no de-commitment. No wavering. No outside force could change Cherry’s decision.

quote:

After he made his commitment, Cherry stopped taking visits to other schools. If a rival coach reached out, he’d take the call. He didn’t want to burn any bridges. That’s a lesson he learned from Brooks; you never know when a coach might come back into your life. But Cherry didn’t let that affect his choice.

“He’s old-fashioned,” Brooks said. “A man of his word. Whatever he says he’s going to do, he’s going to do. … He’s not the flashiest guy. He has a normal haircut, doesn’t have the wild haircuts like you’ve seen. Doesn’t have any tattoos or earrings. He’s just a quiet young man who handles business like a man should.”

quote:

He’d been around the circuit for years. Cherry attended camps and visited colleges as early as his freshman year. He had a “good relationship” with former Texas coach Charlie Strong and visited Texas A&M and Oklahoma on multiple occasions.

But everything changed when he met LSU coach Ed Orgeron and defensive assistant Dennis Johnson. After early meetings with LSU coaches, Cherry said he believed they had his best interest in mind. Orgeron in particular, Cherry said, treats his student-athletes as if they’re his children. LSU was willing to show Cherry loyalty, so he said it was only fair to reciprocate.

quote:

On Dec. 22, 2017, Cherry fulfilled his commitment. He signed his national letter of intent to play for the Tigers at one of the most anticlimactic events you’ll ever watch. Cherry signed his paperwork wearing a purple shirt that read “Geaux Tigers” in big gold lettering in front of three silver balloons that spelled out “LSU.” No diversion tactics. No mystery. No second guessing.

No need.

Before playing DE he was a running back. The guy runs a 4.64 40. The article has videos - one of him running track (he was the anchor for his high school's 200-meter realay team and the other his anticlimactic signing of the LSU LOI.

If you don't want to go to that school then yes, you can and should slam the shite out the door.

Assuming this is about Kardell.

This is nothing more than psychology by $aban. He lives in the heads of our fan base and he wants to sow the seeds of discontent every chance he gets. Just look at it like N$ taking another opportunity to try and dick slap LSU in the face.

Honestly, it's flattering because despite our recent trends in football, if N$ is still actively working so hard to dismantle our program then he still feels threatened by our program...

The problem with shutting down recruitment is that none of a staff's coaches may be on staff by the time signing day comes, and then he no longer has any relationship with other coaches.

I’m guessing that you have no clue as to what “shut down” means.

Because when you are 18 years old and the best coach in college football comes knocking at your door, you don’t slam it in his face

Not a difficult concept here

bullshite. I would have slammed the door in his face even if I hadn't shutdown my recruitment.

Because it’s not truly shutdown.

I understand your frustration but we pursue recruits the same way everyone else does. Until they sign they are fair game. If a Louisiana kid says he’s shutting down his recruitment after committing to A&M or Bama or Ole Piss..do you really want our coaches to not be in his ear about the advantages of staying in state?

He is an egomaniac that cares only about himself. He wants Kardell more to prove his ownership “rights”. This young man will hopefully be smart enough to know this is Saban praising himself not the young man.

You’re completely correct. If he or anybody else means it he can not open the letters reply to the text and/or take the phone calls. Let’s see if that happens. If he does, then he has shut it down.
