The 2025 Shreveport (La.) Calvary Baptist running back will arrive at LSU on Wednesday and stay on campus through Thursday. The trip will give Simon a chance to take in an LSU practice on Thursday, as well as meet with the coaches and staff across his two-day stay.
Simon is one of three Louisiana running backs the Tigers have offered in the 2025 class. He’s joined on the short list of early targets by St. Martin’s Harlem Berry and Opelousas’ D’Shaun Ford.

On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power circled the combination of size, quickness and pass-catching abilities as what stands out about Simon. Simon checked in as the state’s No. 2 running back behind Berry.
“James Simon is different than Harlem Berry. I think if you’re comparing these guys stylistically, he’s a bigger back,” Power said. “Does not have quite the burst, obviously. Few do of Harlem Berry, but he is a big back who as a runner is probably going to thrive most between the tackles. Much quicker than fast. I think the biggest thing we want to see from him moving forward is just the top gear. I think he is a guy who can play all three downs. He’s a very good pass catcher, you can see that in 7-on-7. I think he’s on the high end just from the ball skills and comfortability in the pass game.”

Going to be interesting to see how they handle this trio(also seem to be a couple of others that could be major school guys as well). Can they swing 3? Do they dare take 2 prior to Berry if it works that way?(he's the prize) What do they do at RB this cycle? At likely our worst position in terms of current talent, it's a big situation for the staff to figure out. Good thing RBs don't have to be special to be effective.

On3 is sleeping on D’Shaun Ford.
I saw him last year against Teurlings Catholic and Breaux Bridge. He is good.

Take them all, convert a couple of them to LB’ers.

Looks like Rivals is the only one showing him any love currently.

Berry is a must have/get...the other 2 would be nice but the focus needs to be berry

Through some of the names and rankings I have seen early on in the state of Louisiana and with Coach Kelly having his system in place for a couple years, I could see 2025 being a big class for the Tigers.

Sometimes, that word gets thrown around too much.
Berry is that guy.

Im glad CBK was smart enough to hire Frank Wilson
Not sure I’d have as much faith in another coach landing these 3 RBs

Those Opelousas boys were always pretty touch back when we played em.

Yep, this guy is the real deal and that area plays some tough defense and he runs right though them all. He’s about as tough as it gets and he’s not slow either. He’s got plenty more in the tank as well.
