Next years breakdown and class:

Chad Jones SR.
Brandon Taylor JR.

Karnell Hatcher JR.
Craig Loston FR.
Stefoin Francois JR.
Ron Brooks JR. also plays corner
Josh Johns FR.
Rocky Duplessis FR.

Commits
Sam Gibson FR.
Ronnie Vinson FR.
Eric Reid FR.
Tharold Simon FR.

That will give us a total of 7 freshman safeties next year. I just think it will be interesting to see how it plays out. There will be no shortage of young talent at this position.

Look for Francois, Johns, Duplesis, and possibly Reid to move to linebacker. Vinson will most likely play corner. That should free up some space.

Stephon Francois will end up taking over Harry Coleman's role IMO.

I would expect the safety position to be something like this.

I think Simon is the only player that stays at safety. Maybe Gibson but i think he is more of a corner. The rest are going to be corners or LB's.

Tharold said a few weeks ago in a Tiger Rag article that the coaches told him he would start out at CB which was kinda surprising. I would put my money on Safety though but if he worked out at CB he would be a beast.

It was my understanding that Stephon was practicing at LB and that they were trying to beef up Johns and Duplessis to play there as well. Saw a recent pic of Johns and he definitely put on weight. Always thought Duplessis would do better at LB, he is fast and will hit you. Just what Chavis ordered. jmho

My understanding is that both Johns and Duplessis have been "cross-training" at S and LB.

Francois is running Lb behind Coleman, Johns behind Francois...rumors are that S Francois is going to ask to moved back to safety. When Johns was moved to LB, Duplessis was moved back to safety. No cross-training for either Johns or Duplessis..

The coaches think hes got the hips to play corner. I still like him at WR though.

And we could use some help at WR.

Chad Jones will be in the NFL or Cactus League pitching, so don't count him in for the 2010 season.
