Speedy, really we all wanted Miles to lose it and look like a jackass on a routine play after he was down by 21? Right

Saban's screaming in your face sideline show, but yelling at a player for making the same mistake over and over might be the only solution if you can't bench him at the time.
Everybody watching the Sugar Bowl on national TV saw how well Saban's players responded to his going psychotic on the sidelines repetitively.
Again, it isn't the yelling at a player who blows an assignment or has a dumb penalty that gets to be the problem over the long haul, it's the way Saban does it ... and no matter what you believe now, over time, Saban starts to lose his players with his out-of-control one flew over the cuckoos nest coaching style.
Saban builds/re-builds splendidly, eventually wears out his welcome with the players and starts looking for opportunities to move on, but he never has shown the ability to maintain what he's built. Not a single time, not ever to this point.

again, there is an in between, and Les could have been laughing and telling him he was a dead man.
So try it out, if you're in management go bitch a few people out when the do something wrong and see how it goes. Or you can talk to them and point out where they fricked up.
I'm sure the guy beating his wife thinks it's effective too assfrick

Yes, MANY people on here wanted Miles to go apeshit on players after that game
Many but not all of us. Different coaches have different styles and personalities. Besides which, none of us know what Miles is actually saying to a player on the sidelines - we only know he's not emulating one flew over the cuckoos nest.
Placing one's arm around the shoulders of a player doesn't necessarily mean he's getting a butt-kissing type of instruction as MANY here seem to believe ... as you pointed out, especially after the Arky game.

You ever notice those little microphones the coaches and assistants wear? All Miles has to do is press his little button, tell the audio coordinator which assistant coach to be patched in and then Miles tells him to speak to the player on the sideline about his play or what to be prepared for.
Miles is like the conductor of a symphony orchestra. Since the players have a coach (receivers coach, DB coach, Dline coach, etc..), those are the men who will have an immediate impact on what the player can do to adjust in a game. You guys looking for Miles to get all bent on the sidelines don't understand what it is that Miles does.

Talk too any player that has ever played for the little man and they will tell you HE has the greatest NAPOLEON complex of all time. He constantly grabs his junk and is insecure because he could not produce children on his own.
i am not knocking adoption at all, the point is that it only plays into his insecurity that he masks with ANGER
HE also overcompensates with humiliating others
to make himself feel big = hence the NAPOLEON COMPLEX
What do you think? Does Saban have this complex? play Dr phil and analyze the man's problems.

Hell no. Dr. Phil is a defrocked fraud without a license to practice anymore, who managed to dupe Oprah (admittedly something any simpleton could easily accomplish).
I don't do post-modernism's "everybody is a victim" brand of pop psychology. I'm a hardazz, everybody has to take responsibility for the consequences of their own behavior. Otherwise, I ain't yer head doc. Seriously, I probably only work roughly 35% or so in clinic and the other 65% in medical research.

How do you know what Saban was saying. He might have been cheering his player on to the next play.
Clueless RANTards pretending to know what they are talking about is precious.

Yeah, that's what Saban's psychotic "I just escaped from the loony bin" expression has written all over it in that utterly priceless sideline photo: "Just cheering my player on to the next play." Saban really cheered his team on to victory over that team who didn't go "undefeated in a real BCS conference", as I believe he worded it, didn't he?

You sure are [clueless, albeit not particularly precious], but it's amusing on a post-holiday season Monday morning.

Let me get this straight.
Saban is blasted for chewing a players arse out after a bad play
Les Miles is blasted for giving a player (Alem) a pat on the back after a bad play

this is truly SAD...i suppose its a good thing Bear Bryant isnt around anymore..ya'll wouldve hated him..
Posted on 1/5/09 at 10:42 am to Mudminnow
As usual, mudminnow, you manage to totally disregard anything contrary to deification of saint Saban.
Posted on 1/5/09 at 10:54 am to magicman0001
Yep, magicman, I remember Bear Bryant as a coach quite well. He was a helluva coach, both in building a strong program and maintaining it over the long haul. Something Saban has never done in his entire coaching career at any level. Probably never will given his coaching style.
But don't let that fact get in the way of the deification of one of CFB's biggest azzholes - Saban, not the Bear, Saban is nothing like Bear Bryant, except in your dreams ... and I've damn sure never been a 'Bama fan, but to compare Nick Saban's coaching style to Bear Bryant is enough to send anyone who really watched the man coach for years
Bear Bryant not only built a great program at 'Bama, he stayed 'round and maintained it for a very long time. Get back with me when the demi-god (at least in his own mind and that of a few hangers on) Saban achieves half that kind of coaching ability to both build and maintain a FB program at any level.
The legacy and coaching style of Bear Bryant? Nick Saban ain't even half there, Magicman, not by a long shot.

Did you hear about the practices for the bowl game? How do you know what Miles did or didn't do? Miles was losing his team. Did you see how the team responded against Georgia Tech? They came together, played disciplined football and blew them away.
Did you see how Alabama responded to Saban's antics? They continued to fall apart.
Miles knows his team. He is doing a great job. I'll take his approach any day over Saban's.
By the way, I remember the Travis Daniels incident against Georgia in 2003 as well. He was screaming at him on one play and then he went out on the field clapping and cheering on another. The issue is, I don't think I see him doing the clapping and cheering at Alabama nearly as much as he did it at LSU. He seems mad more often. Is it just me, or does anyone else think that?

From what I've read of your posts here, mudminnow, you rarely get anything "straight".
During the course of the Sugar Bowl the whole country got to see how well Saban's sideline style helped 'Bama on to "victory" over that other team Saban thought hadn't gone "undefeated in a real BCS conference" to begin with.
That arrogant disregard for a determined Ute team got Saban and 'Bama handed a humiliating defeat on a very big stage. Couldn't have happened to a nicer fellow.
