I did not know he was such a great center fielder in baseball. IMO I think that translate well to safety. I watch his highlight he almost killed a kid at safety, I think this kid is one of the real gems of our class. How do you guys feel bout this.

Keep hearing he is the second best athlete only to speedy Noil. Says something that he is highly regarded as center fielder for MLB.

I'm very high on this kid. I've posted it several times but I believe him to be our most underrated player. Think he'll be an impact player for LSU sooner than later

I do not know much of anything about this young man...however, I root for players like this who are hungry and have the talent to prove themselves..the bar has been raised at DBU and we see players proccessed over the last few years, because they couldn't brake through the active depth charts...these have been the less touted players as of late...I will actively root for Gage to reverse the recent trend...

Then why did they not offer him until the final days?

Why are you still posting Sampson? We had a lifetime ban bet on the national title game

Because Tony Brown waited a while to choose Bama then Adoree was clearly going elsewhere

Because they could, I suppose. They've been keeping tabs on Gage the entire process - one of the things Jimmy D was consistently right about this cycle. It was always a matter of getting the numbers figured out, knowing they didn't have to come in with an offer because there was no hurry.

Bottom line is they valued Gage more than a couple other legit in-state DBs like Donovan Wilson and Santos Ramirez. I can't answer why other schools besides Tulane weren't after him which gave LSU the luxury of not offering earlier, but possibly because Gage didn't go to any college camps or combines besides LSU's camp. Wilson and Ramirez traveled more widely and attended combines. Wilson did the Texas summer camp. Ramirez did Arky's camp.

LSU just got a better evaluation of Gage than other schools could.

We'll see how it shakes out! Gage vs. Wilson vs. Ramirez...I bet one of those 3 guys turns into an SEC standout.

Staff did the same thing with Morris and a lot of people, including myself unfortunately, scratched their head.

I really wish people would stop comparing this kid to Morris Claiborne. He is not Morris Claiborne.

I'm not expecting much but I'm rooting for him.

Not saying it's certain or even likely because you don't get a top 10 pick easily but there are definite parallels.

His film shows he has great ball skills which is vital for a S to be successful. He might be the sleeper of our class. Also surprised at how physical he is for his size. He's tall but not very big but still hits like a truck.
