Based on 247 crystal balls rolling in it looks like somethings brewing on his end, anyone have a clue if it's for LSU?
Rodney-Sopsher 247

edit: looks like one was from today and the others around Sept. 25th. They showed up on the scrolling list on the geaux247 site so I thought they were all news.

Aren't we the only big time offer?

Yea, but signing him to get his brother is the only reason. If he signs and his brother doesn't then it's a wasted scholly. Maybe have his brother sign LOI first. In todays world of recruiting, anything is possible.

They just literally won't send Rodney his LOI until Ish signs his and faxes it in.

We are Rodney's only offer - he hasn't played football since he got out of high school 2 years ago

big risks go both ways. If ish is anything less than all SEC caliber then that second scholly is going to hurt. I am not saying he will or will not be that, I have no clue.

It's a desperation heave no matter how we slice it, you only hope if we get both Ish does turn out to be an absolute beast because that's the only reason to spend 2 scholarships on 1 player (Especially when they play the same position).

Or maybe out of a miracle Rodney is a competent rotational player. I will say nobody expected much out of Robert Nkemdiche's younger brother at Ole Miss and he was arguably the better of the 2 players while there.

really hate O is in the position he's in with that area because honestly from what I've seen on the field I'd be ok letting Ish walk let alone waste 2 on them. Kinda like O is obligated to do it because of the history.

But... you can go ahead and get back “in” within that area. Sometimes you have to realize those 2 schollys could get you 5-7 more players in the next 3-5 years. Still a risk, but but worth weighing

He was also good, but not better than Robert.

Do you really think we’d sign him and not Ishmael?

100% chance they make Ishmael sign first

Depends on how you look at it. If he's the top DT, it's worth the risk. You sign top names every year that don't pan out or transfer so it's always a crap shoot. If we don't take the chance and he goes elsewhere and blows it up we lose out on another top hometown prospect.

O has no choice. He has to sign Ish or the fans will go ballistic.

I wonder if Rodney has enough athleticism and physicality that you could use him as a blocking tight end.

You might need a guy like that. I know that's what we took T.K. McClendon for, but if Rodney can do that maybe you can take him instead of McClendon and open up a slot for another defensive lineman who can play.
