None are even in the top 250. Bama has at least 10. I am not going back to count them.

Absolutely. And I like the news coming in on our other recruits. Should be a good year.

However, I did notice that Rivals does not have very many highly ranked LA prospects, relatively speaking. Especially compaired to other schools that LSU will be measured against: Bama, FSU, USC, UGA, UF, and Texas...to name a few.

Based on these rankings, I don't see how LSU could have a top 5 class, based on the "Rivals Math".

Disclaimer: LSU's class will be better than its Rival's ranking.

This is a weak start for LSU, they aren't getting the top LA HS players like they used to get. Last year was the start of Les not getting the top 3 players in LA. Before last year Les had a fence up so no one would get our HS players.

you cant expect the top players to all commit this early. The guys we have are good players, just haven't gotten as much message board hype.

Hopefully that was the exception going forward and not the rule. There is certainly smoke out there about quite a few of the top guys in Williams, Beckwith, Diarse, Jefferson, and Smith all possibly favoring other schools at this point. IMO, those may be the top 5 guys in La.

I dont expect to land all of the above even though LSU wants them, but losing 3 of the top 5 is something that needs to stop right now, I dont care of we get good OOS players. We need the majority of La kids that we offer going to LSU, espescially the bigtime guys.

With that said, it's very early in the process.

I care.

And I agree with you, some are just bitching to just bitch.

If anyone thinks that these kids are properly evaluated by just a handful of Rivals staff(or any other service) as JRs, they are nuts.

Reputation and name recognition means everything at this point and is only slightly lessened in the SR year. Then it is a crapshoot resulting from alot of camp participation as well as a limited live exposure and select film.

Agreed.

I mean, we already have 4 of the top 10 guys in the state. We haven't even lost anyone yet worth bitching about.

I don't pay attention to Rivals but by the end of the year if we land 9-10 of the top 12 or so kids in LA we'll push for top 5. That's not even adding in the OOS kids we'll land. We'll be top 5 or very close and the big season ahead will help that plus set us up very well for 2014.

Maybe it has been updated since this was written but both Brazil (175) and White (215) are Rivals 250 guys
