"Current" doesnt matter, we are not playing baseball games with how things are "currently"
Everything is in flux with every baseball roster right now between the portal and draft, those have to finish up first.

Do you think Jay has replaced Friday/Saturday arm

50 HRs a year from two guys in the heard of the batting order?

For perspective, it's being optimistic to say Yes when the standard the last two years has been Skenes/Floyd and Jump/Holman. I am optimistic about Shores but I believe most would agree the starting pitching is not trending up

How did All-PAC12 Mac Bingham do in the SEC?

What does that have to do with the post you’re replying to?

Dude insinuated that we have replaced a future college Hall of Famer and another guy who hit 28 bombs with our portal acquisitions from Dayton, Indiana St etc

They are relying too heavily on Jays young players emerging in a big way.

So you’re saying that all the freshman suck, and all the transfers suck? How would you build the LSU roster without relying on HS signees and the transfer portal? Should we field a team of walk-ons?

The pitching depth is definitely better. Need to add a couple more good bats though and a LHP or 2

Evaluate and recruit better player, like A&M, Tennessee etc are doing.
Then supplement with better portal players.
That’s how we got the 2023 team. Jay took Paul’s last great high school recruiting class and blended it with great portal talent we paid for. Boom - Natty
Problem is we don’t have the same slam dunk young players and turn key high level portal players.

Shores and Herring show as much promise as Jump and Floyd had.
Jump pitches 16 innings in 2022 as a Freshmen and didn’t pitch till 2024. And he was our best pitcher this year.
Shores pitched more as a freshmen and had a better ERA.
Herring is a question mark if he comes back or goes pro but he was awesome this year. a 1.14 ERA in SEC is insane. If he comes back he’s at worst the best relief pitcher in the country.
I dont see a friday night SEC starter in the portal like Holeman or an All American Like Skenes, and it’s not exactly obvious that any of the portal guys are better bets than Shores and Herring.

Right now is not the best time to ask that question. You don’t know if they’re worse because the MLB draft will write the script as it relates to who will even be on the roster. Lots of great players still out there. Everyone is in a holding pattern.

It is so depleted, there is no answer.
