I actually prefer the floor routines this season than the last two. Unpopular opinion i feel Bryant is missing the front double. If we go back to that Auburn floor rotation, it was great. I like all those that were in the lineup that night. I think the focus, confidence, consistency and injuries has played a roll in the inconsistency of the team. When they are good they are really unstoppable as a team. Given a few bar dismounts and not being the best beam compared to the top 4, this team has potential to contend for the national title this year.

any reason why this is in particular? I am new to gymnastics this year. Also shame on people going after gymnast. Its not their fault that judging is terrible. And you literally could do this to every gymnast for every team. Nobody out there having zero deductions.

I usually do stay away from Reddit but a friend sent me the link. The comments under the photo were not complimentary to say the least. She said these posters are always knocking on LSU. Most LSU fans know we catch a lot of flack but to me this was overboard.

Reddit is pretty bad for the gym talks.

Its one thing to have constructive criticism about someone's gymnastics (that is fair game).

Half of it is personal attacks on the athlete that has nothing to do with sports.

Most of these reddit posters tend to follow elite gymnasts for years (rather than college teams). When their beloved gymnast joins a college team they dislike, they can become really aggressive towards this particular team. You can still gather some solid insights* over there but better don’t argue with them…it’s not worth it. I defended SEC teams a few times and they all ganged up on me…

*For instance, recruiting insights:
(There are rumors that Sophia Butler is going to go to LSU instead, JaFree Scott didn’t sign a NIL yet I believe, and who knows what’s happening with Shilese)

My least favorite thing about reddit is how transparently partisan it is. THey hate on all the SEC schools (because Southern people are dumb/conservative/etc) (most especially LSU) that aren't Auburn (deemed progressive because Suni goes there), Florida ( Trinity, the general love for Riley after the Haney situation. how much they love Morgan (though I seriously doubt we ever see a Morgan Hurd NCAA routine)), and Arkansas because of its ties to UCLA it must be more "progressive" than the rest of the SEC.

Then they continually refer to other schools, especially LSU, as racist, without even referencing the fact that we have a very large percentage of people of color on our team. Our stars, who I am certain would not tolerate any type of behavior like that. It is very frustrating to me - so I try to ignore it when gleaning reddit for elite news.

I mean it’s full of keyboard tough guys. It’s cool if you feel like getting in an internet fight though!

So it looks like all Regionals will be on ESPN+ this year. If I understand correctly, that’s a separate subscription at around $7 a month. I think you can cancel any time so you could pay the $7 and cancel the same night. Not a bad price but a pain in the butt and this is the first time in years when I feel like watching college gymnastics has gotten harder.

With regionals this week, LSU will be competing on Thursday for sure and most likely on Saturday. So will Jay rest anyone (like Kiya on floor) on Thursday (when individual qualifiers are determined) in order to give it our all on Saturday? There are 3 results that could happen:

1. LSU places top two on Saturday and the team goes to Nationals
2. LSU places bottom two on Saturday but individuals qualify for nationals based on thursday’s results (eg Bryant in AA, Johnson on floor)
3. LSU places bottom two on Saturday and (if) some girls were rested on some events they miss qualifying as AA or event specialists.

My guess is Kiya will be rested on floor on Thursday and possibly Bryant on one event if her elbow is bothering her.

I think they both compete. They’ve had basically 2 weeks off to rest.

Honestly this season, and in this regional, they need to take the opportunity to get the scores to be inidividual nationals qualifiers on Thursday.

I agree! We have to put our best lineups forward from here on out if we want to advance. And there is a bigger chance than ever that we might not make it past regionals, so they need to try and secure individual spots just in case.

Interesting interview by Jay Clark, kind of got on the media about being overly negative. I agree with him. Gymnastics is not that type of sport. What say you?

I wonder what over the top questions he’s referring to. I imagine most of the reporters are coming from the football side of things “ what happened and what are you going to do to fix it?” Vs.” How are the girls feeling about not having the meet they wanted?”

One question that stuck out to me was "From the outside, given the current trajectory of this team, not a lot is expected out of you"

WTF?

Maybe it’s just me but I think it’s important to ask the difficult questions - we have not performed our best this year at times and our mental game is clearly part of the issue. I was most interested in Sammy saying that the mindset coach send them videos. I am not close to the programme or if the mindset coach does more than this but a worthwhile investment really could be a sports psychologist to work with this team on pressure. Likely to late in the season now but more mindset style coaching one on one and as a team appears like it could be a worthwhile investment for this team going forward as that competitive edge at times has appeared lacking. Talent wise we Have the gymnastics even if I don’t always agree that we put our best foot forward in terms of routine construction. Fingers crossed for post season we have a rough regional so let’s hope we can survive and advance ??

We would not bat an eye if they asked this to a football or baseball coach who has had the type of season this team has had or the last “game” this team has had. As I have said before Anif it’s a sport, it’s a sport, and all the scrutiny that comes with high-level collegiate sports, regardless of whether they are females who are participating. I am glad the media has gotten a little more scrutiny - I for one want some answers for the incredible inconsistency of this season

This stomach bug appears to be going around. Hope they can overcome it.
