Hey 357. Since you keep up with the travel ball stuff I was wondering if you have ever heard of a 13 year old girl from Plaquemine named Charlie Neumann. Her mother is my wife’s (no pics) niece. Her mother said they were at some kind of event this past weekend and supposedly they had some coaches there from different schools. They were wondering who she was and someone told them she was only 13. What ever the event was this weekend it sounds like it was some kind of showcase for for girls 17 & 18. Just curious if her mother is telling the real truth. She hit 6 home runs this weekend at that event

Thanks. I was just curious.

The only player on the West side that is LSU material is the center fielder at Brusly High School, Layla Clark.
She absolutely dominates the field.
Struggled at the plate a bit, she plays basketball as well and they made it to the State semi finals.
She missed the first 14 games because of it, she was starting to hit her stride as the season ended.
She is a special talent and is without a doubt D1 material.

Hey now that the 2022 class is signed and seems like recruiting for the 2023 is winding down, what is the overall feeling on the quality of the 2023 recruiting class?
Any gaps? Misses?

Its pretty strong overall, we just dont have a pitcher committed. Although with the signing LSU had for this year, it wasn't exactly a very pressing need after signing Strood, Berzon, and Johnson.

It would have been nice to have picked up Kayden Henry but couldn't reel her out of Texas.
Bergeron is doing well for team USA

Gotta hand it to Beth if anything she knows pitching. She sure as hell can’t field a decent hitting team

I am confused why people keep saying that. If you compare LSU Softball season offensive stats with co-SEC champs Florida and Arkansas, they are very similar in average, runs, hits etc.
This was a good hitting team last year while starting 4-5 freshmen at times, while playing the hardest schedule in the country.
I think the future is bright....

I will say this, if we want to win a SEC title or make it back to OKC we gotta get better as a whole offensively. I watched many top tier pitching staffs get runs put up on them this post season. Consistently blanking teams to 2 runs or less as you progress through post season is very difficult for any team.
We can’t have near half the lineup hitting near/ sub .250. Some of the averages can definitely be attributed to a tougher schedule but at the same time at some point you have to be able to put up runs verses better teams. Our last two super regionals have highlighted where LSU has to get much better in. We can’t always expect our pitchers to win games 1-0 or 2-1.
We have some talented players. As a whole we probably have to get better with developing our hitters and look into the mirror as to why we are seeing some kids regress (Sunseri is a big one).
LSU is going to need players to step up offensively with the losses of Andrews and Doyle. We are going to need to count on other kids to deliver outside of Briggs and Pleasants, if not teams will walk or pitch around them. There is a lot of talent and depth, hopefully we utilize it this year to build a more well rounded lineup. The pitching should be terrific this year

I agree what has to be done but only if Beth can be the hitting coach to. Otherwise her hitting coach and her will be gone because of it. I like her and I hope she can right the offensive ship.

Beth don't mess with this girls swing. No wasted dips or round house on that swing. They should use film of her swing to show the rest of the team. Is she in the 2022 or 23 class?

Class of 2023! She has a really nice short compact swing with a lot of power

Exactly what I noticed. I don't know why we don't see that swing from some of the other girls. Some with long swings. Its really not hard to learn that compact swing.

Anyone have seen anything to know any lineup predictions? I heard the freshmen Brandon and Redoutey have both been raking. From the look of things, we will have a Lefty heavy lineup with Briggs, Pleasants, Brandon, Redoutey, Pilon, Coffey, and Gutierrez ALL getting looks to start.
