I feel for her. She was right around the corner from peaking in 2020 after a great 2019 season and then a couple of injuries prevented her from training and upgrading in many areas over the last two years.

She will obviously be great in college but wanted her to go out on a good note from elite.

I think she gets into trials. She was named to the national team after a great showing in camp earlier this year. One of the few gymnasts who has international experience as well (Pan AM's)

Side note, GAGE does a tremendous job developing their gymnasts but their routine construction is poor across the board for all their athletes.

Hope Aleah kills it tomorrow.

Just saw where Ariel Posen changed her commitment from UCLA to Georgia. I know she’s been injured a lot lately, but I enjoyed watching her on bars when she was a junior elite. Think it’s a great get for Georgia.

What are yall's thoughts on the WCC girls (Zoe Miller and Amari Drayton)?

Everyone is always talking about how impressive Simone is but to me Chelsie takes the cake in most impressive. To come back after all those years and 2 kids at her age!!! Well I get excited if I go for a walk around the block. Lol

I think this extended year is going to be terrible for the elites going to college. Everyone who was talking about fla killing it might need to rethink because I think this last year introduced many more injuries to these girls. I am excited about all these ‘23 girls coming up. Hopefully most of them can stay healthy. Would love to have skye!

And last I love Simone and she is definitely the goat but I hope she is done after this olympics because I get tired of nbc making the whole dam meet about her. I know it’s not her fault but it won’t change until she’s not there. I don’t want to see her ankles taped, or her talking, warming up, tweeting, whatever, as long as there are actual routines going on. It is disrespectful to every other girl out there that worked just as hard as Simone. End of rant! Lol

Loved Zoe’s bars and vault on night one. I haven’t watched Amari’s routines yet. Would be great to have a first recruit from WCC that can maybe lead to more in the future.

Zoe would be a huge get. She is clean on bars, floor, and vault. And she has all the tools to be a good beam worker. She has good form. I actually thought her E score on floor and beam (even with a fall) were underscored.

Amari came on my radar back in 2018. I remember her routines being super clean at JO Nationals. She has a lot of power and doesn’t lose form. She would definitely add a lot as an AA at LSU.

I really don’t get these college gym news star ratings. Some of the five star girls have barely competed in two years. They’re rating them based on their potentially, not on what they’ve actually shown recently.

Curious if the announcement of Garrett Griffeth and Courtney being hired will be made this week.

Those are the front runners and its rumored there could be an announcement sometime soon.

LSU needs a vault coach and a choreographer. They have a long history with Jay going back to his days at Georgia. Jay recruited and coached Courtney. Not sure what their salaries are at Utah but I have no doubt LSU would match or increase it if needed.

Would be a good hire IMO.

Morgan's Hurd olympic shot is over IMO. She peaked years ago and she just isn't the same anymore unfortunately.

Emma Malabuyo with a quiet yet highly successful nationals, finishing in 4th.

Who would have thought Emma would look this good after all the injuries she’s suffered her entire senior career? Certainly not me. I read somewhere earlier where Hurd has already petitioned to Trials. Hernandez apparently will do the same.

Poor Aleah didn’t make Trials. Feel so bad for her.

Me too. She had zero shot really to make up any ground counting 5 falls night one (which is more than she has fell the last three years combined). The ankle injury completely screwed her unfortunately. She hasn't had enough time to get the reps in she needed and upgrade routines. Instead, she had to compete a watered down vault and compete routines with low difficulty. Its an accomplishment to get back to this point considering where she was a few months ago. She really needs another year but she doesn't have that time unfortunately. This sport is cruel unfortunately.

I just saw her floor routine. It was the best floor routine of her career until that last pass. Her and Emily Lee got shafted on their beam scores (execution scores).

Looks like Morgan’s petition was denied (according to Heath Thorpe).

At least this will give Aleah a little rest before she goes off to LSU. She needs a little break. Mentally and physically.

Feel bad for her. I don't really understand some of the trials decisions. Aleah didn't really have a real shot tbh but she is stronger than some of the girls who made it. Why were Zoe Miller and Amari Drayton advanced? They had zero shot. Aleah has international experience and could have been usable for an alternate spot (esp if they are taking 5 alternates).

The McCools would be incredible. I really like what they've done at Utah. The recruiting has been great and so has the development. Consistent high quality lineups, even when they've had to manage their fair share of injuries amongst the team (eg Rucker being out a year).

Basically they are judging this one competition but not what has happened cumulatively (recent competitions and camps).

I am actually shocked they denied Morgan's petition to be honest considering what she has done for USA Gym. Definitely aren't going to make any more friends. And those two kids literally have international experience.

I don’t particularly like Morgan Hurd,s gymnastics and have never understood the hype about her really, but honestly so surprised her trials petition was denied. Sad for her - she is a two time world all around medalist this quad. Also so sad for Aleah - I really did think Tom would accept all petitions from those with international assignments this quad.

Tbh I don't think Hurd is making it either, but denying the petition puts a sour taste in people's mouth. What's the harm in letting her petition through trials? If she does well there, great, you can consider her. If not, then, well, that's fine too: she got her chance and it didn't work out.

Not saying Marta's old plan of picking teams literally a year in advance was better, but not everything should hang on performance in one competition either. Especially for these girls with nearly no international experience.
