Wow. LSU really dropped the ball. Looks like it’ll be UCLA vs. Florida vs. Utah battling it out for the next few years. All of those classes next year are stacked. Hoping Jay pulls a rabbit out of his hat.

LSU will be strong the next couple years with Finnegan, Kiya and Bryant’s classes.

Just a bit disappointed LSU missed out on such a talent like Selena. Then again, early recruiting and filling up spots could have bitten us here. Not sure what is gonna happen with Caitlin Smiths scholarship

Injuries will continue to worry me, especially with Kiya already and then Kaytlyn Johnson and Aleah Finnegan coming in next year. Both have had their share of injuries over the years. We don’t know how Kai will come back. Just a lot of uncertainty is what I’m afraid of.

Also, pre meet notes are out. I’m not going to read too much into it.

I can’t wait for the day that LSU snags a recruit that I personally really, really want. Selena was one of the few recruits I wanted so badly.

Letting Selena slip away is a MASSIVE fail on our part, considering we’ve been her #1 school for so long.

Sigh.

Great meet overall - happy to see landings on beam really improve and on floor ! Christina much improved on second pass and Sierra was really great this week as well as haleigh and kiya - great to see her back out there! Hope we can get past a few of beam nerves and also bars needs some tweaking. Need to get some consistency in that second spot as it seems to throw the rest of line up off when there is an issue. If Elena is not going to do bars I think Bridget should go - although she has form issues she is solid and generally reliable. Olivia seems to really struggle when there is an issue before her. Wish we could put kiya later in the line up but no one else is as solid as her to go in that 1 spot! And haleigh finally stuck her vault for that well deserved 10! Happy for team to get another great nqs score! Also kamryn again was amazing on vault! Would love if we could get her in our regular line up if coaches feel she is consistent enough!

LSU's vault rotation is absolutely ridiculous. With a Ryan who is hitting, will take it through the roof. IMO definitely our best event, especially when we are hitting.

Jay has to figure something out with our bar routines. Bridget's bar score will not score well in post season but its clearly better than Brock. Dunne seems to continue to have stamina issue with that last handstand with the obvious issues with her DLO. Its really a shame to see a great bars from Haleigh killed every week because of. that dismount. Not sure there is a solution that will change much at this point in the season, we are what we are.

Beam was decent, different people made errors this week. I wish LSU watered Kiya's leaps down. She has had issues with the switch half most of this season and she is already limited to how much she can train here.

Floor, this is your post season lineup. Let Desiderio lead off and Alyona follow. For Edwards, we just need to clean up that front double full, she has hopped a bit on it the last few weeks. Getting Kiya back on floor was the shot in the arm we needed. Ballard was tremendous as always.

So basically it was Bryce Wilson over Selena since they’re in the same class right? Both 2023 kids. I know Bryce has a lot of potential but she struggles with consistency. Selena is more solid. But congrats to her. She’s going to do well at UCLA.

Bryce is suppose to walk on from what I heard unless they free up scholarship money. She is from Louisiana actually.

Its still a massive steal though, many other schools have offered her. Her potential is through the roof. Another year of polishing before LSU.

It's a pity because Selena is already 9.9-ready on all 4 events.

Bryce has great potential and can get there too with smart routines that highlight her strengths.

Whether or not such routines will materialise is anybody's guess.

Interesting that jay pulled Reagan from the beam line up not because of injury but indicated that others were performing better than her in her post meet interview on tiger tv. Said it was one of most difficult decisions he had to make in his coaching career to pull her on senior night but that if he didn’t follow the metrics that he is uses to determine who should go they would be meaningless. Guess she must have been off in practice and she hasn’t been performing that well in meets. Hope this will light a fire under her to get better for rest of season but know a lot may be down to injuries. Feel kind of bad for her as she is great but just not been doing her best so far this season. Really hope she can figure it out and end on a high even if they water down her routine

Yes that statement really surprised me. Sounds more like he may have informed them before the week started that whomever hit in practice would compete last night.

Also interesting that he finally acknowledged that the second spot on bars is a weakness. Kinda seems like it’ll be Chase going forward.

Another thing I took from his interview is that those were the best lineups. I still think Ryan deserves a spot on vault. And Elena needs to be in bars.

Well that is intersecting - on the one hand, I am glad Jay is making decisions based on certain metrics, but am sad for Reagan that she didn’t get to try for senior night. I think this season has just been so unfortunate for her, healthwise. Does anyone have a link to the Tigertv interview- I have trouble finding those online.

So my bars lineup would be in this order
Bridget
Olivia
Haleigh
Alonya
Kiya
Sami
I think this is the way to get the max scores. Bridget might not have the best form but she is just as consistent as kiya and will allow kiya to move back in the lineup.

TB357.....I know you have a lot in insider knowledge. Don’t you have the ear of someone on the coaching staff? Or the ear of someone else with the ear of someone on staff? I wish we just had answers to some of these questions and concerns....the dismounts, the unnecessary difficulty on beam, why Arenas hasn’t been on bars....all the frustrating stuff that is brought up after every meet. I wish there was a post meet press conference like in football, where reporters could ask those questions!

Well holy heck, I guess there is at least a post meet interview! Who knew??

Unfortunately I don't get to see the practices this year due to COVID and restrictions. That said, previously I heard Elena was training bars unless she is having issues with her shoulder/wrist which is holding her out. She does have her chronic pains as well so who knows.

I hope this offseason, we can address some of our routine construction choices. For bars, I think Dunne should consider the other dismount she trained on bars (no form issues with this one). Alyona should be doing a pirouette to a double tuck (Jay needs to swallow his ego here). We need to make some type of priority this offseason for Bryant to develop her bar dismount with the half twist, her current one kills her bar scores.

Beam, I don't think its rocket science but the switch half should not be in the majority of these routines that its in. Honestly, that is the only thing you can deduct in Desiderio's beam. Dunne, Kiya, Ballard, D'Antonio should not be doing the switch half either, its more built in deductions. Kiya has had a major break on the switch half in half of her beam routines this season. Give her a simple leap she can hit.

IMO they sat Campbell on Friday because of her injuries and probably struggling some in practice with a little bit of consistency. I'd be surprised if she isn't back come SEC's.

Hopefully Kai can come back healthy for next year. She was a big loss IMO, especially the depth she provided across the board. We have been able to manage without her on vault, but her bars are badly missed right now. If she is healthy, thats gonna be another major punch for us. If she can do floor, her, Kiya, Bryant, Finnegan.... my god.
