The meet was till in the balance and she gave it all she had. Why can't some of you appreciate the great athletes we have instead of trying to find the negatives that you know nothing about.

I swear, I have never seen any other sport where fans hold each other to this kind of standard when talking about athletic performance. We shouldn't have to soften *constructive* criticism by also making sure to applaud what they did well, they are competitors. Judges don't care if a gymnast is "giving it all she has," they score the routine they see in front of them (theoretically at least lol). She is the most decorated member of this team and she is objectively underperforming based on what we know she can do. Pointing that out is not a personal attack, and it's not nitpicking or "focusing only on the negatives" considering the impact it has had over the first month of the season.

It was good to watch them fight for it even after basically losing the meet in the first rotation. It's still early, I certainly don't think this spells doom for the rest of the season, but they can't bounce back if they don't address what they did wrong.

357 Not sure if im allowed to ask but why is ferrer out?

She said on instagram that she was not competing this season due to personal issues, and did not elaborate. It seems serious and something she doesn't want to openly talk about. I hope she's doing well/better, though :/

You totally missed the point I made. It was not about the result.I was referring to, it was the comment that Kennedi seems like she doesn't care. If she didn't care she would have sat out the whole meet instead of competing with an injured arm because she was the best chance to pull out a great comeback win.

How in the hell can anyone just assume an athlete does not care just by watching them perform. As I noted Kennedi has never been an overly emotional person . She has never been the demonstrative personality that Bugs and McKenna were. She and Ruby are the seniors and would logically be expected to be team leaders which may not come as naturally to them as it did to previous gymnasts.

This is an injury riddled team and the coaches are trying to cobble together a lineup to remain competitive until the regular lineup is healthy enough to reach their capabilities. The last thing they need are the snide comments about their emotional state or their body shapes. This does not mean false adulation, just respect for them as individuals who have incredulous training routines.

I have NEVER seen any comment that said Kennedi doesn’t care.

This is the comment I was responding to by khill715:

I honestly think kennedi has lost some of her heart for gym. She doesn’t even look that excited to be out there sometimes. It’s kinda sad for her.

Not to be argumentative, this isn’t the Rant forum lol, but khill75 didn’t say Kennedi doesn’t care. He(she) even came back and explained what he meant. I read it as a comment expressing concern for Kennedi, not criticism. But that’s just me!

I see your point, but comments can be interpreted subjectively. I responded prior to the poster clarifying the previous comment. Even so, it would be best to avoid making subjective comments about an athletes' emotional state because they are not overtly emotional and especially not about their body images and conditioning.

Hoping they will all heal up soon and we can focus on another roaring finish to the season with a full team.

I like that the girls have this "January didn't exist" kind of mindset but...... hmm..... also something has got to be done towards watering down some of the routines at this point. It seems that the routines go just fine until they reach the section where the dispensable difficulty actually is. For example, Reagan's floor routine. Everything is fine until the double pike at the end. I get that that routine needs the "last double-salto" bonus, since she only does a 1.5 back to a layout in the middle pass, but I just keep thinking "why the piked?" She had a perfect double tuck for most of the meets last year and it has the same value. Also Kennedi's arabian is looking worse than Gunter's!!! Why keep it now? Of course Maggie Nichols can throw a crazy piked full-in but is she doing it? No!

I totally agree with your stance on comments about weight/body type/emotional health. I would never comment on their bodies, and I don’t like reading them. And yes, there’s still plenty of time for a strong season and hopefully nationals!!

Unpopular opinion. Let Campbell do a 2 pass routine and let her earn bonus from her leaps/dance series. One of the very few gymnasts who can actually do this.

If every other program is gonna do this, why not LSU? Doing difficulty will get us no where if you can't execute it. I doubt it will happen but they need to at least at a minimum go back to a double tuck. She clearly can't do the double pike, not enough stamina and power to do that as a 3rd pass.

Also Annie Beard had a big time showing at the WOGA classic which is a NL qualifier. As of now she has the top junior AA score in the competition.

Holy cow at Annie Beard’s 2nd pass. Such an original way to go into it. She has such great artistic expression, I can see her performing some routines similar to Finnegan.

Do you think that essentially takes her out of gymnastics or can she realistically come back from taking a year off at this level. I know Simon took a year off but that's Simone. I think she could just show up after that and still win! She's amazing!

LSU is ranked 9th in the 5th week rankings. Georgia is 10th and Bama 7th.

seems like OK, FL and then half the country at 196 something. We can still get hot and make a big move.

I REALLY just think that this year is about trying to go into post season with a decent ranking, but get healthy and peak during post season

LSU’s 195 score is hurting them bad. Having to count a fall vs Auburn took us out the 197s. I honestly think LSU finishes in the #5-#6 spot going into post season and we will just have to hope for the best that we peak and hit on all cylinders when it matters most. We really don’t have many if not much room now to falter with throw away scores moving forward. Ideally we need to be a consistent 197+ team these next couple months.

Florida and OU are in a league of their own right now. Everyone else is clawing their way for a spot at nationals. Although with the new post season format. Upsets are much more likely. Florida was the first victim of this last year. The ceiling of this team really depends on getting kids like Kai, Desiderio, Alyona, Ryan, and Edwards in good shape moving towards SECs. They are already working on Alyonas floor routine and she has been vaulting more in practice. Ideally, we want Alyona or Ryan to be in that vault line up to end the year. I’m not seeing it with Rau right now. Nibbs is serviceable but not a vault we want to count.

DD and Jay have alluded to some routines to being potential big surprises that could turn the corner on a couple events we haven’t seen yet. Hopefully that comes to fruition later down the road. Alyona may be getting a shot on beam soon.

IMO, when Kai rivers kicks it into the next gear, much bigger things will happen. She is training floor more

Admittedly, I’m just a fan with very limited knowledge of gymnastics. So I have no opinion on who should be in what lineup. But I’m glad to hear that Alyona may be in more lineups soon. The more she is out there, the faster she can get over her nerves. I think Bridget Dean is an example of someone getting better as they’ve gotten more relaxed. She used to look so nervous, and that led to some mistakes. I guess her ceiling is lower than some of our top gymnasts, but she’s filled in where needed and held her own.

Do we know when Kamryn Ryan is expected back and what her injury is? Do we think she will just be on vault or also a floor contributor ?

Any word on how the team is feeling? How they are going to try to pull together to make it through these next few meets without Edwards/Edney? How about the coaches?

Tiger tv posted an interview from jay and Kiya on YouTube. Seems like they are upbeat.
