DD Mentioned in the press conference that they may take some things out of Kiya’s routine which I hope they do! Not that she’s not capable just less for her to worry about when she’s going to be doing 4 for 4 probably for the rest of the season.

On Road to Nationals they have a feature where it calculates the highest possible score if each gymnast hit their best score at a meet.
Oklahoma's peak would be 198.475, UCLA at 198.275, LSU at 197.9, Florida at 197.6, Denver at 197.55, and Alabama at 197.5.
So technically speaking, we could be ranked 3rd overall, rather than the 7th place we're at right now. There's a .3 gap between us and Florida, and Florida's vault remains a major concern. Their highest score on vault is a 9.875, that would be our lowest counting score on the RtN rankings.
LSU has always peaked early up until last year, where we started slower and peaked right at nationals. That's the way we SHOULD want it to work. The pieces are all there, once we hit a meet and don't count any falls, we'll be on fire.
This weeks LSU vs Florida meet honestly could be decided by their vault and our beam. It's gonna be a good one.

Just finished watching the UCLA tri-meet. UCLA scored a 197.425. I think they were actually scored correct for the first time in years. Deductions were actually taken in appropriate areas. Kudos to the judges!
Also, why doesn’t LSU schedule any exciting opponents like OU and UCLA anymore? Or even some up and coming teams like Denver, Minnesota, or Michigan? I think the last time OU was on the schedule was 2016, and UCLA was apart of I think the Metroplex meet in 2018. Those meets were exciting to watch. Not saying that Arizona, ASU, and Oregon State are not formidable opponents, but those meets tend to lack in excitement and enthusiasm. I know Utah will be added in a few years. There was just something different when I watched the OU/Alabama and Denver/Arkansas meets on YouTube. It was nice to see the excitement from the gymnasts and the crowds.

Is anyone watching the OU vs. Arkansas meet? I like Maggie Nichols but her bars and beam scores were totally crack!
Also, just watched the DD Breaux interview on YouTube (LSU Tiger TV). Looks like Desiderio is going to be out again this Friday. DD also said she’s hopeful to have Alyona back in the bars lineup. Said she is struggling with confidence right now. IMO, I would let her sit out this Friday. I think the pressure of the meet may possibly get to her. At this point I just want the gymnasts to hit 24/24.

I didn't see that on youtube - just a short clip from after the meet Friday. Could you share a link?

I kid but for real I have no confidence in Dean and Durante at this point right now on beam. I hope they hit on Friday.
Alyona is so accustomed to doing a lot of reps as an elite she has struggled a little bit on how to be efficient with reduced reps during NCAA training. It’s an adjustment for sure.

Pretty tough to see Alabama, Georgia and cal all hit 197 before LSU :(
Tigerbait do you have any updates on Aleah or lily, are they both at the camp this week?

Why don't we have an exhibition routine on every rotation for experience? If we don't have someone to send out then why are the even on the team? Comparing to OU wich should be our benchmark our depth looks really weak. Are we not evaluating our Scholarship offers well or do we have a bunch of girls Hurt? I see girls in uniform I've never seen compete.
I understand we got a couple of studs this yr. I meant as far as depth.
And these questions are for the board in general!

I’m afraid too. The only advantage LSU has is on vault. Florida has better bars, beam, and floor right now.

Have the gymnasts of the week been announced yet?
Posted on 1/20/20 at 8:54 pm to TigerFan112
Gymnastics awards are announced on Tuesday.
Also, I’m seeing a little rumbling on Twitter about Oklahoma being over-scored their last two meets. Happy others are finally realizing it.

Nothing right now but I know Aleah just flew out
They will be showing upgraded skills they have worked on. Aleah's bars could potentially be very different this year. She has worked on a lot of other bar. combinations she hasn't put into competition yet.
I am pretty sure they are going to try to get Aleah to do an Amanar. She needs that to have any shot at the olympics. Her floor and vaulting are at a level competitive to get there but her bars have to get much better in terms of difficulty and execution. Her beam is good but she needs more upgrades. Its a tough cycle. I know she likely isn't going to make that team but it would be cool to see her come close. Her transformation in just one year was remarkable, this year could be interesting.

Hmm I wonder if Edney is going to get in trouble with DD for retweeting Maggie Nichols beam routine wobble and complaining about overscoring - Tigerbait, you seem knowledgeable about the inner workings of the team, what do you think?
Also, re: this Florida meet, I think we have a less than 5% chance of winning. Let me say, it would be hard to win against Florida at home with them ending on floor even if we were at the same level as them right now - but, really we're not (based on the three meets thus far). As one poster mentioned, we may have the edge in vault, but that's it. Their bars are tremendous and until we can get Schennikova in to replace Dean (whose handstands did appear much improved!) and move ruby out of the anchor spot, then we are maxing out around 49.2-49.3 on a good day. Beam - we can be good there, but the whole beam team has been nervy this year. If they have a hit meet like Georgia, then it will be helpful, but I wouldn't expect Florida to give us the same gifts Georgia did in terms of counting a fall on bars and beam. I think a hitting beam team makes our beam potential pretty even with Florida. Floor - I think we took a step forward last week, but I think Florida is still better conditioned and they are ending there, which means scores will go sky high.
TL; DR: Vault - adv LSU; Bars - big adv FL; Beam -draw; Floor- adv FL
Edited for typos.

I kinda cringed when I saw Edney's retweets. I didn't think it was a good idea. I know it's how we all feel, but I'd rather her like statuses such as those rather than retweet. I'd rather her focus on her roundoff on her double arabian rather than complain about scoring right now. For her to say "college gymnastics is not fun anymore" really worries me. I know it can be frustrating. I played volleyball, basketball, and softball growing up. There were many times when I got mad at the refs and umpires for bad calls. But I let my coaches (and sometimes parents in the stands) handle the refs. Sometimes you just gotta keep your cool and work on your skills so the refs/judges can't take deductions.

I mean she had the highest AA score in the entire SEC this week. It would have been a really bad look considering they completely ignored her previous results the last two weeks.

LSU has rules with the social media policy. She technically didn't break any rules but its dumb to do what she did.
Edney should focus on performing and improving her routines instead of lecturing on twitter over scoring. Its was extremely cringe worthy. She hasn't exactly been stellar this season so far.
The athletes should not be on social media calling out scoring period. Leave that to the coaches to handle. They need to focus on themselves and not what goes on outside of that.
DD and Jay likely arent happy at all.
What I care most about for the Florida meet is our overall score. Winning does absolutely nothing if we stay in the 196's. Its time to get moving into the 197's.
