Not related to the current injuries, but what happened to Ashlyn that she missed an entire season? And what has kept Juliana out the past few meets? I hope she’s available to vault tonight in place of Lexie and/or Sarah.

This is horrible timing but I suppose it could be worse. Hopefully Sarah and Lexie can at least do bars. We can fill in vault with some decent fulls and be OK. Hopefully everyone hits beam and it doesn't matter if Sarah is in the lineup, and Kelley can step in. Floor we don't need Lexie here and Sarah can be replaced as well. We can get to Nationals by just hitting decent routines consistently. It would be much worse if this was happening at Nationals when we need every one to make Final 4, much less have a shot against UCLA and Oklahoma.

Tigerbait - anything to add about injuries/sickness for the meet tonight? I am very concerned if Lexie/Sarah are out. Have you heard anything more definitive than what the paper reported?
Lexie is banged up right now, she is my main concern! She reaggravated some of her injuries in practice. Not sure what we can expect her to do this weekend. She says she can push through it but we need a heathy priessman at nationals.
Finnegan is under the weather with a bug right now so her issue is only temporary. We might just take her out an event or two. Just put cannamela in on vault.
Cannamela isn't fully healthy either but if she could give LSU just a decent full she will have done her job. Campbell LSU has to be careful with, they can't afford to knock her out the beam lineup.
It certainly all has the recipe for diasaster but just go out and hit your routines (doesn’t need to be perfect) LSU will be fine to advance. Only way we do don’t advance (knock on wood) is if we have multiple falls on the same event! The back ups are fine, they just need to do what they normally do

Kirby was out with either a shoulder or elbow injury during the fall but injured her knee when she got back in it before the season started. She had her knee scoped. She won’t be able to contribute until next year

If both Sarah and Lexie are out, god forbid, who can fill in on bars besides Dean? Do we even have anyone else?

I don't think they would take both out, just one. They actually got Cannamela back swinging some bars recently. Kirby has got back in the gym but she is not ready yet. Crazy how bars is so weak in depth.
I just think depending on how Finnegan feels later and how Priessman's body is, we could see a reduced workload. Finnegan definitely will be competing but maybe not in the all around perhaps if she still feels bad.
Watching Utah right now, don't see anything great at all and are on the brink of 197 score. Their scores are not the same they have gotten from PAC 12 judging...

If neither Sarah nor Lexie can vault, I’m sure Julianna and Bailey can step in. Bailey hasn’t vaulted well all year but her vault is at least useful. McKenna can step in on beam and Bridget has a usuable floor routine. I’m not too worried about tonight.

Tigers are moving on! So proud of everyone who stepped up. And Sarah Finnegan has the heart of a champion!
Just an update, Sami has a broken thumb and a broken pinkie, Desederio has a sore ankle, and Lexie is probably out until Nationals.

So proud of this team. Sami is a stud for competing with not one, but two, broken fingers.
The injury to Cerio was just heart breaking. She was the only one competing so I was watching her and our seats happened to have us facing right where she landed on her first pass. I immediately screamed and turned my head. Most around me didn’t quite see it. She was landing short in warmup and I was already worried about her. I heard she broke both legs. Just horrible. Auburn gave us a run for our money tonight. If they repeat tomorrow they can upset us or Utah.

I thought the scores for LSU on beam and floor were extremely tight and not representative on how well they did. It obviously wasn't LSU's cleanest meet but they were clearly the best team of everyone yesterday. Just hit our routines later and we are fine.

I have a question that I'm sure some of you can answer. First of all, I thought Kennedi's score on floor was ridiculous. The judges' scores were all over the place...didn't she get a 9.90 from one and a 9.75 from another? (I could be off a little on those, but it was a huge difference between a couple of judges). What do you think was the reason for the low score? I know she wasn't perfection last night, but I didn't see any glaring mistakes. I wonder if it is because Kennedi doesn't seem to point her toes like Sarah and some of the other girls. She certainly has all the power and other skills.
Which brings me to my real question, and that is whether coaches work on getting the girls to point their toes and use graceful hand movements. You would think of all the skills needed for gymnastics, toes and hands would be the easiest aspect to coach and learn!

Kennedi’s landings weren’t her best. She took a small step to the left on her double Arabian and she was a little crunched on the double tuck with a small step. I could see a 9.875 for her routine, not a 9.825.
Now beam, I feel Durante, Dean, and Campbell were all underscored. I had Durante and Campbell in the 9.9-9.925 range. Dean had the smallest balance check on her front aerial and then an arm swing on the dismount. Those small adjustments do not amount to a 9.775. Maybe a 9.85-9.875.

Thanks for the clarification, tlricks. I agree about the beam scores, too!
So what do you think about my other question. Do the coaches focus on the artistry details? You can have a great routine going, but if the toes aren't pointed and the hands aren't graceful, it takes away so much from it. It separates the great ones (like Sarah) from the rest.

Now that I’m not sure. I think the soft hands and pointed toes starts in the very early years in training. I notice this technique especially with Gage and Texas Dreams gymnasts. Gage gymnasts always have pointed toes and poise. Texas Dreams gymnasts have the best leaps. Most other gyms don’t seem to teach the small details, often opting for difficulty over precision. But that’s just my opinion.

Dean’s score on beam was not a surprise to me. She has problems with her feet and overall form. They can definitely deduct if they want and beam was judged tightly in both sessions. Campbell did not get her split half all the way around. I guarantee that it would have been 9.9-9.925 if she didn’t have to adjust her feet to cover that she wasn’t quite rotated. I could see it from the 300 section.
Edneys floor score was the most puzzling for me but again, I was sitting up high. I thought she maybe studded stepped on the landing of the Arabian and her tuck looked like her legs were almost going to buckle but the step she took seemed very controlled despite that. I would have sided with 9.9 judge because I would not have deducted for that double tuck landing.

So this is how the NCAA semis will look like:
SF 1 - UCLA, LSU, Utah, Michigan
SF 2 - Oklahoma, Denver, Georgia, Oregon State
SF 1 looks like the tougher one on paper but as long as Finnegan is healthy, we should be all right.

SF1 is tougher but I am pretty sure Priessman will be back on bars and Finnegan and a couple others will be a little healthier for the meet. Utah will be a threat because they are talented but if LSU just does what they should do, they should have no issues advancing to the final four.
Keep in mind LSU held out Desiderio on floor, Priessman on bars and vault which are big scores LSU did not have this weekend and we still won by over .250 of a point.

I worry about our vaulting. We haven’t found landings all year. Well, only Finnegan. I wish we had at least one more reliable 10.0 start value. McKenna is gonna be hammered for her low chest position. Counting 3+ plus in the 9.8 range is not good.
Also, I’m praying we get Lexie back for bars. She’s a routine we gotta have to at least have a chance at Nationals.

I thought Ruby vaulted great this weekend, she is fine.
Edwards is the one who needs to get her shite together.
