They already know who the coach is, its from within the coaching staff already

Lets see if Jenny can figure out how to use that talent in Florida. Dicello picking Florida is a bummer

I figured it would be someone from within, so recruiting goes on easily obviously.

I feel like Florida just chooses who they want and they make it happen similar to what Bama does in football recruiting. The talent is insane there and they keep stacking it up. At this point I’m like please Leanne go anywhere else but Florida or UCLA.

Desiderio is only doing a full as of now, if she were to work to a 1 1/2, it wouldn't come until prob her junior season. She stopped training vault for almost a couple years since the olympic trials. It will take some time.

Ruby has had a great fall and has really turned the corner in terms of what college gym is about, which is execution and consistency. Her elite career was so focused on everything but that, cramming all that difficulty in. Her floor looks wonderful right now, they made some changes to it. She trains beam, its actually a very unique beam routine, its coming along. Although the top people to replace Myia and Erin at this point are Durante and Dean.

Expect Ferrer to immediately be put into the leg events to open the year, we should see her a lot on bars as well. Kirby is recovering and getting back from a small clean up on her elbow.

Is it a worry that Desiderio won’t get as high of beam scores as she would since she’ll be in the lead off spot?

Also what’s the likelihood of Reagan making the floor lineup?

Generally speaking, the people at the beginning of the lineup are scored lower than later part. Now a lot of that is do to the better kids going last. Although in some cases good routines that lead off aren't given scores like they would receiver further down the lineup. NCAA judges need to learn to judge the routine, not the placement in the lineup. Desiderio should be a consistent 9.875/9.9 scorer.

LSUs floor last year was Kirby, Desiderio, Priessman, Edney, Finnegan and Hambrick.

Kelley should be replacing Hambricks routine. LSU brings in Ferrer who should be in the floor lineup for sure, she is that good on floor. I think it will be tight but I imagine Campbell will have opportunities on floor. She has a good floor routine, its unique. Fans will like it a lot IMO

Now Kirby for me could become a question with how other routines are progressing. Specially Sarah Edwards and how she continues to grow. Edwards routine would bring an E skill to the floor lineup too. Ruby has been pretty impressive as well. Campbell will see her shots, some routines from last season could be upgraded this year by different kids.

Your reports on gymnastic recruiting are always interesting and informative. You have great insight into their skill sets and potential on the NCAA level. Since many of these young women are committing by their freshmen and sophomore years it would be very much appreciated if you could post a recruiting board for the next three years. It would be curious to see where LSU stacks up on a year by year basis and provide some insight as to how well they are replacing the outgoing seniors each year.

A listing of the top 25-30 gymnasts by year and their status as to commitments or schools being considered would be helpful.

NCAA Gym News also has some good stuff:

Finally, my favorite is The Balance Beam Situation. Spencer will seriously make you LOL. He currently has a Freshman Playlist posted.

I also missed the youtube video LSU gym added last week. I randomly saw it the other night and I keep forgetting to post it. You see Christina vault and Dean dismount bars.

Well, looks like FloGymnastics has a top 100. I'm too cheap to pay for a subscription, but if you really want to know who's the top L10 competitors are, it's a good place to look.

Sorry for the late reply, forgot to respond

There is no true ranking for gymnasts. It’s a bit complex ranking and differentiating top level 10 girls, international elites and girls from other countries

That said I can post on each recruiting class from 19-21 and talk about the top 6-7 programs and their recruiting

Projecting kids doing basic routines from these girls is prob the best way to do it

There are realistically only 6-7 programs who have a shot at a title, so I can focus on those.

At least you can replay it online

It is suppose to be live streamed by SECN+ or ESPN+

I am really excited about this season and how the sophomores have stepped up this fall.

So from seeing the girls early this fall, here is what I think

Vault:

We are projected to have 5 10.0 vaults by end of the season, maybe 6. DD keeps going on about Finny and getting 9.9's on the full but her full has been hammered repeatedly over the years. She still trains a 1 1/2 but we will likely only see a full her senior year.

We will start with Finnegan, Cannamela, Harold, Ferrer, Edwards, Edney

Priessman and Kelley will get used as well. Kelley IMO with more reps will move into the final lineup as we get deeper into the season. I personally think they will ease her into more events coming off her injury.

Bars

Its going to be the exact same lineup as last year with Durante leading off. Her dismount this fall has looked much more consistent. She looks more polished and has cleaned up some details.

The last spot is between Dean, Kirby, Ferrer. Campbell does have the ability to be good here as well. Dean has a lot of potential but sometimes misses that last handstand before her dismount. She can be really really good when she hits.

IMO its Ferrer's to lose. She has looked great this fall on bars and is consistent with her double layout dismount, while hitting all her handstands. There is a minor leg separation in her routine but as of now she is prob most polished for the best score on bars. She should be a 9.9 scorer this season when its all said and done.

Durante, Ferrer, Harold, Edney, Priessman, Finnegan

Beam

A lot of competition here. Biggest worry coming into the fall. I like Desiderio leading off this group because she is consistent and clean. Beam is an event where you need consistency. Having a bad start at the beginning can wreck the rest of the routines.

Two spots are open from last year. So far, I really like Dean and Durante to fill in those roles. Durante continues to improve dramatically and seems to have a lot of confidence. She has a clean look with nice lines that will look good. Dean looks very solid as well, she is aggressive and commits to all the skills she does which is what you need to do on beam.

I really don't see this event as a weak point actually. With that said, with the inexperience of a couple of girls it will likely take some time developing some experience before they fully blossom on this event. Do not be surprised to see some early growing pains.

Campbell IMO will be a 9.95 scorer this year. The new routine is dramatically better and she looks over the moon confident with it. Much more flowy too. Edney has improved as well and looks much better. Toes are still a concern but her leaps are improved for sure.

Desiderio, Edney, Durante, Dean, Campbell, Finnegan (4 sophomores )

Floor

Losing Myia hurts but this event IMO when its all said and done will be improved from last season. Kelley will return to the lineup but will start out with the routine she did her freshman year with the only E skill, double layout. As she works into the back half of the year, she will add her difficulty back, thats the goal.

Ferrer is sure to step in and start. She has a big routine that will help us immediately. Desiderio is much further along this fall than she was last year. Her floor fits her better too. She will still do the same tumbling passes.

What will be interesting is to see what happens to the lead off spot... Kirby has a great routine. But there are some routines that have much more potential for bigger scores with bigger skills.

Ruby has looked much more consistent this fall and has changed some stuff up. Edwards is looking really really good right now. Edwards could easily win a spot as the lead off. Campbell will see some opportunities at some point I imagine

Kirby, Ferrer, Desiderio, Edney, Finnegan, Kelley

Edwards is one to watch IMO

Adding Ferrer a year early will really help this group out a lot though. She will be a big contributor this year.
