I read where the ULL coach streams their fall games on his FB account.

It would be nice to get a glimpse of our team.

Damn!!!!! How the hell did we recruit that 2024 class and a stout 2023 class and fall off this year like that?!!! Couple of the 2025 adds are promising adds that have done well in travel ball thus far (Daniels & Mowery) and I've heard the Appling kid is solid, but nothing like that 2024 class or 2023 class.

Gonna be nice to see this 24 class join the new kids. But given all we lose this needed to be a strong class like this.

Could be but young players are watching, recruiting never stops everything social media wise should be geared to recruiting. I would have a day in the life of Team USA player Taylor Pleasants…Mic up 2 time gold glove winner Briggs during fall games in game would be huge..gotta create excitement amongst recruits

The 2025 class already has 7 commits, but I’ve heard that there are potentially still 1 or 2 more on the way? Will the team have enough roster space?

Kylee Savant commits to LSU. Catcher out of Doyle HS. Good friends with her parents and she committed on Facebook. She’s ranked #13 on EI.

Rankings are meaningless, evaluation and development far more important

Hopefully the new blood within the coaching staff helps with our recent struggles in that department.

Agree but only to a certain extent. Rankings absolutely matter, in that it informs on the performance of those recruits up to this point. So not accurate that they are not very helpful. Similar to On3 rankings in football and rankings in basketball. All of those rankings play a big role in those sports: (1) No one can go out and see every player, so it is one tool that is and has been for years regularly used to focus recruiters' attention and (2) and more importantly for those not recruiting it absolutely informs us rabid fans of programs in giving us relatively reliable information on the ability of players. If a kid is ranked in the Top 10 it is much more probable that a player will pan out than a player not ranked or ranked in the 90-100 range. Absolutely not full proof but if you look back historically you will find that almost all top players in the NCAA were ranked highly prior to matriculating into college.

But to your point, they don't matter once they step on the campus. They still must perform if they are ranked highly. If they were ranked low and they show out in their perfomance for whatever reason that player could just as well become an all american. Again, probabilities go against this. LSU football is ranked much higher than say Southern University. The chances are LSU will destroy them, but the game must be played. And there is that 1 in 1,000 chances that Southern may beat them. The Top 25 moves around every week, but they are not meant to be full proof. They are indicators of talents, ability, probability of performing.

With that said, I will take 5 Top 10 kids in a class before I take 5 kids ranked in the second half of the Top 100. The rankings serve a purpose and they absolutely miss. Especially rankings that are relatively in their infancy like Extra Innings. Politics play a big role, probably a little less in the Top 10 but for sure a big role. The fact that Jones and Heavener play on two highly successful teams where I"m sure the coaches words carry some weight, that has to play a role in their visibility BUT they've been ranked highly for multiple years and they've been judged regularly and probably critically for several years but they have survived it. They may end up being busts, but that is HIGHLY unlikely. I personally know the 2024 Phillips is a great player, but no way she is #2 even with ties. She unlike the other 2 I mention has not been under that type of scrutiny because she has not been a Top 5 ranked kid. That is just my opinion and I've seen most of those kids play. BUT she may come in and kill it.

But also to your point: It won't matter nearly as much if the staff does not continue to develop that talent. But if the base skill set/abilities are not there it doesn't matter as much what the developmental skill is like--Can't make water into wine. I'm very hopeful that Bryce will augment the staff well and Beth makes internal necessary changes.

I hate to break it to you but this team isn't OU, you can learn plenty in any game they play. Who is getting work at which positions? What pitchers are hitting their spots? What freshman look comfortable on the field? Who is taking the most reps catching? Do the players look miserable with each other like they did a few years ago? That's what I look for in games like this weekend, but maybe that's just me.
