So what’s the division of power going to be? We can hype this guy from Louisville all we want but Dobson is still the hitting coach.
Entrenched mossbacks don’t like to share their power. We’ve been saying this for years now but I have to believe this is finally the “put up or shut up” year for Torina. Mulkey and Johnson have helped put her on the clock and ratcheted up the pressure.
A similar season in 2024 to this past one and Woodward finally cleans house at Tiger Park.

Wait a second...Heavener is playing 16U as a Junior in highschool? I obviously have no idea what her situation is but that certainly makes me question her stats and her class rankings.

I know what game I watched and it was plenty of them. I'm not denying the kids talent, I'm just saying she isnt some come in and dominate the SEC type of kid. She's a diva and she get's hit plenty hard. Let's not gloss over the fact her team is a set of trophy chasers playing in 16u with basically a team of D1 of commits instead of playing up in 18u like most other teams of their caliber.
The other kid is Addison Linton and she'll be a power 5 commit come September.

Yes, she's playing on 16u on a team with at least 5 Power 5 commits and a pool of younger kids that are of equivalent talent. That team is know for being trophy chasers. They should be playing in the 18u division to push their kids but they rather win trophies for social media status.
The Gatorade player of the year from Tennessee plays up on 18u as a 2025. Why is there a team of Power 5 commits 2024s playing 16u?

According to this, Beth got taken for another ride

Neal is now the primary hitting coach and Dobson is taking over defensive duties that Leftwich vacated, as well as a larger recruiting role. Bryce while a relative newcomer brings a very accomplished resume with him from his time at Louisville.

This season will be telling. As I’ve mentioned before, Woodward has all he needs to ban Sanchez from Tiger Park with that stunt he pulled at the regional, jumping on the ledge and climbing up the netting. That’s a safety issue.
If the Athletic Department remains silent, I’ll start believing they are happy with him as some sort of fricked up “promotion.”

You have a link for that? I see nothing saying Dobson’s role is changing, including the Tiger Rag article announcing Moton’s promotion, which still calls Dobson “hitting coach.”
I think if it is true, it’s the proper move. But with Dobson being a hitting specialist, why make him defensive coach? Just send him packing and hire a defensive coach.

Technically speaking rising senior(s) in high school now, but yes, as well as Harris(same team) play 16's only. Phillips and Calvez are the only ones that have been playing 18's exclusively(3+ seasons). Jones & Franklin teams now full time in 18's as well, Jones team has jumped into that arena many times in previous seasons as well. The gap is vast between the two club divisions, especially for pitchers and hitters. Hopefully the two still in 16's this summer can bridge that gap quickly with only one summer left before making the really big jump to SEC that will include Oklahoma and Texas as a welcome gift.
Edit - *Franklin first season 18's

I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone commenting about the Oklahoma State graduate pitcher, Kelly Maxwell, getting in the transfer portal this week.

Franklin just moved to 18u this summer. Last fall she played in 16u, on a 1st year 16u team, matter of fact and couldn't even hang there. Barely hit her weight and only 1 wind aided HR.
She can tear it up in HS in Louisiana but cant make the transition to elite summer ball. She's a physical specimen that looks good getting off the bus, but isn't an impact player at all.

Maxwell would be a huge get. I'm not holding my breath but that would go a long way towards raising my spirits for our chances next year.

We have a chance... that's all I can say.

We sure need another Pitcher. I read somewhere that Maxwell was unhappy about the pitching coach situation at OKSt

I’m not sure about that.. their pitching coach retired recently though
Still think lsu needs to be full guns for an additional pitcher of quality if possible.

Well, maybe she found that unsettling. The replacement????
Maybe Petty convinced her to come play for Beth

Maxwell would indeed be a big get. She’s a hard arse and a warrior like we used to recruit; she reminds me of Allie Walljasper. It does seem like the unwritten and unspoken rule for LSU softball is to recruit “cute” girls instead. I have my theories as to why this is so.
But here’s where it becomes glaring with Torina. She seems to love her comfort zone with coaches and players. Now Karli Petty was a good pick up and Hannah Carson got hurt. Torina seemed to realize she had no choice but to work the portal instead of sitting on the buckets with the rest of the staff.
But it’s glaring in comparison the way Kim Mulkey, Jay Johnson, and Brian Kelly have been absolutely destroying it in the transfer portal while softball just kinda plugs some holes. This off-season is running true to form and another reason I think Woodward turns his focus to softball in 2023-24.
Maxwell might not come, but someone else from Stillwater might be in the LSU dugout in 2024-25. As others have said, this team loses a lot of offense after this season. We are going to need a coach who can win big in the transfer portal next offseason.

From what I've been told about the situation, I don't want the coach at Stillwater to come anywhere near Baton Rouge.I'm real close to the family, so I'm not going to say much, but my comment should give you a good idea.
