What are your thoughts on the floor music?

I couldn't help but notice that a lot of the music has been used in the past by some gymnasts a lot of people know.. Haleigh uses Addison Fatta's (elite) current music, KJ uses Nickie Guerrero's (Alabama) from 3 or 4 years ago, Elena uses part of Simone's from 2016 (Rio olympics) and Alyona uses Maile O'keefe's from last year

Expected a little more effort from McCool on that.

Edit: Bryce has the same music Rachel Gowey (Florida) had on her senior year.

Could be wrong but I’m pretty sure they give the girls the option to choose their music or recommend one they want to use.

Courtney probably just fine tunes it’s and finds a way to choreograph to the music they choose.

That’s what I was wondering! I can’t remember our own music. From year to year lol!

LOL, yes, I watch NCAA and elite a lot. I know the girls probably get to choose it, but it doesn't really look good... maybe the coaches should double check that? I don't know, just a thought

You are absolutely right in saying all of that. Aleah at one point even asked people online wish she should do for her floor music this year so it was fan-picked.

A lot of people online are complaining (as they do every year) that there’s no variety in the type of music our girls choose on floor. It’s the floor choreographer’s job to match the style of music and choreography to they type of gymnast competing on floor in terms of their skills (like if they’re more graceful or more powerful) and choreograph a routine that will entertain the crowd and hype the team up. In a packed environment like the PMAC, you’re more likely in the 4th rotation to have more upbeat floor routines to close out a meet than you are to have more graceful, balletic routines, especially if they’re consistently hitting, since that’s moreso based on the overall personality of the team.

I agree with all you said. I did not say I don't like the music. Actually, I very much do. Just said I'd pay more attention to repeated music, especially since you're going to compete against people that have used it already (O'keefe)

by the way, Aleah's music is awesome, also is Kiya's

I’ll be interested to see how Tatum, Brock and Bryce come along with their 10.0 vaults that we didn’t see yesterday

Aleahs vault is going to score exceptionally well. My fav thing about Aleah outside her obvious talents is the uniqueness of the skills she competes.

Haleigh knows herself, her fitness level and her gymnastics better than any of the rest of us. Considering she’s now a junior and the healthiest she’s ever been during pre-season, if she and the coaches have agreed on having that be her third pass on floor, as of now, we should just trust that they know what they’re doing/talking about until it proves to be inconsistent THIS YEAR, not based on how she looked 2 years ago.

That is true but in the past I remember her missing the front double full dismount during really high pressure situations when the meet was on the line. I specifically remember us losing to Florida when we would have won if she had hit that pass. I think it is a pass that can get in her head when she knows she absolutely has to hit it. It’s very hard to find the balance between not under rotating it and then over doing it and taking a huge forward rebound out of it. I just think her errors in the past were mental. I do wish they would train an alternate last tumbling pass that was easier should she find herself feeling tight.

I still stand by my initial statement that it is still too early to pass judgment on her final pass, worry about it, and have her change it. Haleigh is a different gymnast now than she was her freshman year. She has had 2 years of collegiate gymnastics experience under her belt to have learned and grown from. She's not 18/19 anymore so if we're still worrying about a pass she did two years ago, when she's now a junior, we're failing to acknowledge the ways that she has grown as a person and a gymnast since then. Until she ACTUALLY competes it again IN A MEET, I think we need to give her the benefit of the doubt as fans of the team and trust that she, Jay, and Courtney know what they're doing, especially if we haven't seen her do a full floor routine with 3 passes on hard floors yet (which we have not since 2021), and she's healthier, stronger, and more confident in her skills now. Also, unlike that meet in 2021, it looks like she’s permanently locked at 5 for this season on floor. Everyone in our lineup ahead of her for this coming season has the experience needed to hit under pressure (they’ve proved themselves already) so even if she falls, Kiya is anchoring that event and hardly ever falls on floor.

The past is the past. Let's leave it behind us and look ahead to this year with the team we have now vs the team we had then, just as the team is doing. They're not dwelling on the past (they've reflected on it, learned from it and are using as a lesson and motivation for the future to be better) and we should do the same thing.

Anyone know anything about Annie beard - I see she had surgery a while back - so we expect her to compete at all this season? Does anyone know if we can expect to see tori Tatum on any more events - her vault footage was looking good in the summer. I was also suprised not to see kamryn vaulting

Sickens me the hate AJ gets on social media. I thought it was bad enough on the national sites, but on our own social media pages?? Hopefully it wasn’t anyone from LSU. I’d bet there are many girls on other teams who have said and done far worse - they just don’t do it in the open. If the story we got from Jay is the true story, and I believe it is, then she did nothing wrong.

I’m sorry, what did I miss? I heard a story on another site but I don’t comment on things I don’t know. What is the story on her? I hate any of the student athletes get negative comments

The internet/social media platforms, especially twitter is not a very nice place unfortunately. I know LSU usually has someone that monitors all that and they have removed some things in the past.

ACK and multiple others outside of the gymnastics program vetted and did research into everything before making a decision to even consider her joining the program, including reaching out to UCLA. And Jay met with every single gymnast individually and discussed it with them before letting her join. People need to move on and mind their own business. But as you know, people think they know everything.

Jay isn't jeopardizing the programs culture and internal balance over a single gymnast.

This lady is in charge of operations for gymnastics and would know who handles the social media platforms for gymnastics. Several emails from this board should get the attention needed to block or delete hate comments by the individuals causing the problem.

What frustrates me the most about the hate she is still getting is that regardless of what happened at UCLA, it is very evident, especially with her teammates of color at LSU, that she gets along incredibly well with the girls, not just one or two of them, but all of them. Why can’t people just let her be happy and allow her the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive?

I agree. Most of the nasty comments appear to be from fans of UCLA. Others do jump in on "here say" not knowing the truth of the incident. I would like to see Twitter re-visit rules for violating community standards which at this time still allows certain labels that demean individuals.

I fully agree with you. Twitter’s community guidelines with regards to what is and isn’t considered bullying/harassment/hate speech are incredibly outdated. As a Gen Z/millennial, it annoys me sometimes how quick Tiktok is to ban or block someone for violating their community guidelines (even if they haven’t) but in this case, I think Twitter needs to take a page out of their book and start using the same principles TikTok uses to determine those things, because it definitely makes the app much safer, kinder and more user friendly than Instagram or Twitter

Did you see the probable lineups at Utah on page 9 in the meet notes found on the schedule page? Dunne isn't listed on bars.

In all honesty, I’m not surprised at all. Given the intensity and difficulty of our schedule, even just this month, I think it’s wise to not have her in the lineups this early, especially with her injury status. If Jay plans to use her at nationals, any time she competes before then puts more wear and tear on her labrums and runs the risk of her being out all together when we would need her most
