This.

He committed to Tenn. when FW was there also. No Frank Wilson, no AJ at LSU.

I was simply wondering why a 4 star athlete would have more scholarship offers than a 5 star athlete.

Look@ at the school's that recruited these kids AJ skillset probably only fit the schools that offered him, and a kid like Rasco could play in any system hence mo offers just be glad we got him.

Let me preface this by saying Rasco is a fantastic player, but realistically, here's why he's not a 5-star.

1.) Remember there are about 30 5-stars nationally (Rivals). That means only he most elite players are 5-stars.

2.) Frame. Rasco is listed at 6'3"... likely a bit generous. As a defensive end, the freakish, legit 6'4"+ guys are the ones that recruiting analysts drool over.

3.) Lack of elite burst. Rasco is not in the rarified air of a guy like Clowney when it comes to his get-off. Now he is very fast for his size once he gets going.

4.) All-Star game performance. He was outshined by guys like Lynch at the USAAA game.

Now, why I like Rasco. Kid has a great head on his shoulders first and foremost. He is a 3-down guy with the stamina to play the entire game if necessary. He provides immediate depth (I think he could very well jump Maclin and maybe even Aghayere in the rotation by midseason).

i highly doubt Freak only got 7 offers or even only 25-30 offers. He likely just didnt feel the need to call Scike types up and run down a laundry list of programs he could give two shits about offering him.

This. You beat me to THE reasons.

First, the numbers game played by Rivals. They have a set number of 5 stars and are not going to go over that. Secondly, Landry was a phenom at his All Star game and got a fifth star. Rasco was good, but not a phenom a the all star game.

How many camps did he go to? Sometimes that has a lot to do with it.

I think he will play an AJ Hawke type position, tweener. I say put him at LB if he is a smart guy and let him run.

Rasco isn't the dominant force that Clowney and Drew are.

Hence, they are five stars and he is not.

Agree with the first part, disagree with the second unless we have injuries.

The fact is we are stock full at WDE. Montgomery will start, Edwards did a great job in his place, and Mingo rotates in on pass rushing downs.

Beyond that, we have this guy names Justin Maclin that everyone seems to have forgotten about.

I don't see any room for Rasco this year. As somebody said, he'll need a year to bulk up.

they may have had to promise him some playing time this year, though. He said he was "taking his talents" here for "3-4" years. I doubt he's going to want to redshirt if he thinks he'll be in the NFL in 5 years.

But I agree that everybody seems to be forgetting about Maclin (or want him to move back to LB). Also, where does Jordan Allen fit in? And will anybody slide inside? Lots of questions to be answered before fall.
