There is clearly an opportunity for elite defensive lineman and defensive backs to play immediately next year for LSU.

I believe that we need to seriously pursue a transfer QB as well to come in and start immediately.

For whatever reason, LSU has had great difficulty signing productive QBs out of high school and developing them.

I think committing a lot of energy to blue chip transfer QBs is worth the effort.

Foreman and Smith should see opportunity from yesterday. Sage should as well. They know the program potential from last year. They can be the basis for the next title run.

We obviously need blue chip offensive lineman as well.

LSU is basically a Lambo and Ed’s offering the keys to expert drivers. I hope they seize the opportunity.

On the QB situation, I was disappointed that LSU didn't get King from Houston when he was a grad transfer...a proven quality QB. Max Johnson was highly rated out of HS and on the roster now....probably time to give him a shot unless somehow Brennan can improve dramatically. And after seeing Garrett Nussmeier Friday night, he has everything that is missing in Brennan and of course will be on the roster for 2021. He has a very strong arm, great speed for a QB, scans the field well, and makes quick decisions.

That’s good to hear about Nuss. I’m not convinced about Johnson. If he’s worse from a leadership perspective than Brennan, he’s not the guy we need.

I say grab a grad transfer for 2021 and get Nuss ready for 2022. I like that Bama gets guys on the field early as freshmen QBs too. Get Nuss playing time next year.

Johnson, Nuss, and Howard all have enough mobility to move around inside and outside the pocket. Brennan simply lacks those traits.

Brennan lacks an alpha perspective which is needed to play QB. It’s just not in him. We need an alpha male playing QB.

Foreman and smith should still think to come here despite of the loss

All the comments are right on IMO. I can't comment on Max Johnson because all I saw were highlight videos other than he definitely can move...I remember him literally hurdling a tackler. I'm guessing Brennan couldn't do that with his lack of athleticism. But Nussmeier could play NEXT season and be the starter NEXT season. He is that good. The other LSU QB signee I've seen in HS who could do that was Zach Lee who unfortunately opted for baseball. And Nussmeier has leadership skills to the moon...I watched the bench and sidelines when I could see them and he was going over to other players, they were coming over to slap him on the back, etc.

Brennan did enough to get a win, this lost is on the defense, plain and simple.

You weren't watching the game I was watching. Even as bad as the pass coverage was, LSU could have still won the game by making first downs and more scoring on offense. He missed open receivers all game long. You could see guys waving for the ball on some replays. And I guess you are giving him credit for that TD on a ball that never should be have thrown where the CB was waiting to intercept it but Gilbert cut in front of him even though the ball wasn't even coming to him. Brennan left a LOT of plays on the field with all his shortcomings...pure and simple. Also, on his two longest completions, the balls were thrown late and short..the WRers did a superb job of fighting for the balls after the CBs caught up.

The DL should be in this class. Over the past two years: BJ, Gaye, Roy, Guillory + Hundley, Maason and Korey (potentially since they haven't committed)... they will be great.

DB is a worry since next year will be Stingley's last. McQuintstry is MUST GET

This... Brennan didn’t look fantastic by any means but he did enough to win. If you would’ve told me before the game that Brennan threw for 345 yds, 3 TDs and an INT I would’ve thought we’d win by 10+. I’m not counting his last INT on a last second Hail Mary either. Having our defense give up 620 yards passing lost us the game. Bo needs to figure out how to make an adjustment.... I watched us go man all game and get hammered on shallow crossing routes and simple go routes. No Excuses why you can mix in cov 2 or literally anything else. T-Bob had a great comment in post game, it was like watching a Les Miles coached offense make zero adjustments as the game went on.

Obviously would be a nice to get but LSU already has on the roster for NEXT season Stingley, Ricks, McGlothern, and Toles for the secondary. Only Ricks played yesterday I think. Also already committed is Wiggins and hopefully LSU should get Ryan. I will say that the ones who played CB specifically yesterday proved they aren't SEC corners....Flott, Ward, and Evans.

Not sure your point adding Toles in a comment about Koolaid.

I agree with every word. That offense could have won that game with a normal defensive performance yesterday. First of all we would have gotten more touches and likely more points. The offense has a lot more ceiling and we knew that but this defense is scary if the secondary does not improve dramatically.

If LSU has sustained more drives the defense wouldn’t have had to play almost 50 snaps in the 1st half. Also the defense scored a TD and provided great field position by creating turnovers on multiple drives.

Yes, if the offense with two returning starters was perfect we would've won the game. I can look over the defense giving up a record number of passing yards, but that I just can't look past. /s

I get what you're saying but bo pelini called a horrible game.
He didn't switch up the entire game

He kept running stunts on 3rd down and it gave the qb tons of time

Lol that thinking goes both ways. If offense stays on field defense stays off it...

Well if defense forces more punts then offense has more opportunities.

You are right and wrong.... Offense needs to improve and defense needs to improve

Yeah, what some people discount is the exhaustion of the defense. Yyyyyyeeeessss, the defense could have made Miss State go 3 and out more but on the other hand IF the offense could have made some first downs at all in the first quarter and a half, the time of possession wouldn't have been 2 to 1 as it was late in the first half. The defense was basically on the field the first half because Brennan couldn't complete any passes of note. As we remember, it took a long time for LSU to score their first offensive points. Since it was Cox that scored the first points for LSU on the pick 6.
