Reed, Benton, and Robinson too

my point was the Alabama schools are coming into Louisiana and getting top kids ..but we no longer go into Alabama and get any coveted kids

just a fact and a clear trend

Saban got several from the southern AL. This is true. However the current staff while they may not hit Al hard, they do have a MUCH larger prescence in Georgia and Florida and arguably Texas. I will give up Bama to increase our prescence in the above states. As for the LA recruits-Yes I wish we would have gotten GROB but I feel that 90% of the time the in state guys we may have missed on have been filled with as good or better prospects from out of state OR they were talented but maybe not the most talented guy instate-ie montrell conner and GRob.

Also I think people need to quit mentioning Reed. He had a lot of unique reasons to leave the state and get away from what I understand (and Im not trying to say that Auburn paid him).

yeah, I'm glad we out-recruited ULL and Tulane for them

I'm actually going to watch the 1A championship game to take a look at the LSU commit from White Castle, and the RB they got is supposed to be really good, but just on the smaller side. I think the RB is a junior.

I think he might have been a high **** guy, and Saban thought he had him gift-wrapped, and after he reneged Saban whined and whined and slurred the kids character on tv.

I forgot his name.

Maybe because we have better talent here....and we're also pulling kids out of Texas, Florida, and Georgia. Who gives a shite about bama when there is better talent elsewhere. You can't sign them all....pay attention.

Again, we took Randle over Benton and Reed had a lot of family issues. It just happened they gained Robinson out of it. We have Granier out of their HS who is the best of those 3

Robinson's recruitment isn't finished yet.

Benton had several chances to come to LSU and didn't get done what he needed to and now he's barely seeing the field, and Auburn doesn't exactly have world beaters at WR.

Someone else in the thread already touched on Reed's decision.

During Nick Saban's time as coach, we had 5 kids on the roster from Alabama total:

Jamarcus Rusell
Melvin Oliver
Chris McCauley
Brandon Washington
Ken Hollis

You're right, we used to raid that fricking state.

Alabama has been rated higher than Louisiana the last few years.. plenty of top recruits we wanted but didn't get over Saban and Auburn. Especially top LBs, which LSU never gets

Don't bother.....for some reason he's more worried about getting less talented players from bama.

that's fine. And I don't necessarily think we really missed out on a whole lot by losing Reed because we recruit 6' athletes like water

But why can't we find one of those great LB recruits or something from Alabama that has a "family problem", and lure him away from Saban, Auburn, etc?

Louisiana was never a LB factory, even in the Saban era.

The only good ones I can think of from LSU from La are Bradie James, Lionel Turner, and....can't think of anybody else.

We do have Trey Granier on the way.

PP7 was a great get from Florida. Not much else

we get kids from Georgia that UGA picks over for the most part. Just a fact. We've never grabbed a kid from that state that either Meyer or Richt wanted badly

We do pretty well in TX. But you could argue that teams like Oregon do better in TX than us and they're at a much greater proximity disadvantage

I think we missed out on a potentially very good CB with Reed (just like with McKnight). He can still be a good WR, which is what he's going to play his whole career at Aub, but he has the skill set to be an extremely good corner, IMO. But that has nothing to do with this thread.

Because our recruiters don't play on a kid's emotional vulnerability like Trooper Taylor does.

STUPID frickING THREAD!!

Off the top of my head I can think of big time Louisiana recruits at the time that Saban let get away.

Robert Lane
Vegas Franklin
Ryan P.-he was ging to Texas before Miles became LSU coach.
John-David Booty
Tristian Ross
Adam Kraus
Johnathan Wade
And our badass DE from a couple years ago that had first signed with Texas I forget his name.
