meltdown level if rivals came out and admitted a mistake only for Jackson to sign with the Vols tomorrow and Bama finishes #1 anyway?

The reason for the 40pts is simple. When a player switches from from other teams to Bama they get extra points. Its in the rules.

Guys, I hate to do this but......

I'm come to the conclusion that it is possible for Alabama to have 2,786 points in fact they could have up to 2,791 depending on variable N in the Burton Formula: H*(n/(n + m)) + L * (m / (n + m)

Since the points for position ranks have different cutoffs, I have used two different "N"s, Nh (High N) and Nl (Low N) rather than attempt to guess where the cutoff is for each position

Nh = Variable N giving all position ranked players 6 and after +8
Nl = Variable N giving only position ranked players 6 to 10 +8

I believe using Nh and Nl is better than attempting to guess where the position rank cutoff is for every position. This method provides us with a range of points a team could have.

My Spreadsheet

My Calculations

If you have found where the exact cutoff is for each position or a way to find the exact number for N, please let me know

As well, PLEASE tear apart my work as I kinda want it to be wrong. I only did the actual math hoping to find that Rivals did screw us...

The best part would be Rivals trying to reconcile that gushing article about Bama about going back to back.

We have three players that basically get no points because Rivals didn't rank them.

they vary-- depending on where bama and bama rivals are sitting

Yes but they've hinted that kickers end around 10 and WR at around 50

You dont find it convenient that in your calcs that LSU is at the absolute bottom and Bama is at the near top of each range respectivly? This stinks to high heavens

Lache is having fun playing basketball and enjoying life.

As for me I spend a lot of time on the small family ranch during the fall and winter months. I try to hunt and take care of some cattle while I am out there. This is when I get to spend time with my mom and dad when they come up to stay on their small ranch which borders mine. I only come into town for work, football games and band activities involving my kids.

911 was Bush's idea i bet

Here you go.. you can remove your tin foil hats hats
quote:

The only thing I see that doesn't work is that they count the position value (24,18,8) of all recruits, not just the top 20 (which is what was done in the spreadsheet posted). I have had a running tally all year long and they have counted all position values.
quote:

I've never posted here, probably never will again. But for all the LSU crying conspiracy, this post is spot on.
N values do not cut off at the top 20. It takes every recruit into account. For Alabama, N came out to be 390. The LSU guy's spreadsheet only took into account the top 20 which is why he has us at 343. I even did the LSU numbers to make sure this was correct.
For Bama, H = 3110, L = 256, N = 390, which if you put into the formula gives Bama 2,786 if you round. This is what Rivals has.
For LSU, H = 3090, L = 254, N = 382, which if you put into the formula gives LSU 2,762 if you round. This is what Rivals has.
So there is no conspiracy, the LSU guy just had N calculated wrong because he cut it off at the top 20. FWIW, LSU had 6 guys get 0 points for N while Bama only had 1. There, now I think everyone can sleep better tonight
