For us, pretty important. We don’t know if Nuss is staying or going. Collins in the portal, underwood flipped, and Swann looked like dog shite. Hurley is just waiting to be the only QB on the depth chart.
Taking a HS QB only really helps that situation if it’s a guy who has the potential to be a true freshman starter, though. We obviously had one of those guys committed until a couple of weeks ago, but it’s not like there are many of them.
To me taking a QB every class is more about the long term outlook. From that perspective it’s really Collins hitting the portal, more than Nussmeier uncertainty, that causes some concern.
If Nussmeier leaves we need a portal QB who can compete to start immediately. If Nussmeier stays, I think you still look in the portal but maybe try to find a guy with 2-3 years and some upside that you can develop. Easier said than done, I realize.

LSu has the top QB of this class on their roster

Most of the top QBs in recent years have been from the portal
Which is my point. If we don't sign a QB out of HS, is it that big of a deal? Seems like of all the positions, QBs are easiest to find in the portal more so than HS.

Or he gets hurt next year and hol-e-shite did you see AJ Swann?
And a kid who is literally still a kid. He is not even 18 years old yet.

Not sure why everyone talks about Nuss this Nuss that. Nuss' return has very little to do with LSU getting a QB every year. Ask any successful coach and they will all say to get at least one QB every year no matter what. Some even get two.
And we need to get a potential starter with at least two years of eligibility remaining.
