We took some depth peace’s already. We have 2 studs in Smith and Wingo.

It’s going to be hard to pull any more by telling them they will have to be a rotational pieces. I know DL split a lot of time but Smith and Wingo will get the Majority of the snaps.

Silver went to Kentucky to replace Rogers.
We seems to have a shot with Rogers but he visiting other school.
Maybe we land Edmond for an edge spot.

All we can do is trust the coaches and I do. I just don’t see many more DL/Edge recruits coming. Just a hard sell right now. Which is kinda what we want. We want to build through Hs and develop and then sub in the portal if needed.

If we sign 2 good LBs and no more DLs I'm actually ok with that.

Guillory played well in the bowl.

I think DL will be excellent with the portal additions.

DL can make an impact and get drafted playing 15 or 20 snaps a game. In fact, I think teams prefer guys with less wear and tear sometimes. Look at Georgia

So did West and Savion Jones. I know Purdue was a shell of themselves, but our DL didn’t just hold up in that game. They dominated them. It was encouraging to see our reserves step it up when needed.

Agree with this--i thought guillory jumped off the screen more than anyone in terms of how he looked versus what I expected going in.

Nevertheless, I'd REALLY like to land Justin Rogers. If we do that, we're basically two-deep or better at every single spot in the front four. I'd love to be able to cycle guys in and out and keep them fresh.

Langston sucks. Jefferson is going to be much more of a depth piece.

Jefferson will be your third DT subbing in and out for Wingo/Smith depending on personnel and rest. Lee will play 15-20 snaps a game, same with Guillory. I see Shand starting at DE and moving inside depending on the package

Unfortunately there has been nothing to suggest that Langston is making progress towards being a contributor.

I don’t think you quite understand what they are trying to do. It isn’t always for the very next season and there will be guys who will want to come here from other places. Of course we want to sign HS recruits and I’m sure if there are anymore available then we will do that but what about next season when some of these guys leave? Unless we keep filling with multi year players we will continue to have to get transfers every season until the HS recruiting catches up and since we didn’t sign many from HS this year, we are another year behind and will have to do this for another probably 2-3 years.

Unless we get extremely lucky in HS recruiting and our current transfers stay their entire eligibility at the same time and we hit on everyone we get in the program. Not going to happen. Guys don’t just stay, they come and then some stay, some leave. We really need to keep loading up on 5-6 guys every year until we have a two deep rotation at every position so that’s 8 starters every season. Ideally thats where you want to be. You may not get that but that’s where you want to aim and if you get it, great, if not then you get what you could. But you don’t aim for 2 players when you need 2. Double that number for growth if possible. Maybe the under the radar 3* or 4* you got later grows tremendously the next season and ends up passing the other top players. You also normalize those numbers in your program and it is seen as successful so those guys stay and get theirs because it’s worked for others.

Go look at Georgia’s DL numbers, Alabama’s, Ohio States, Michigan, Clemson and even TCU or Texas. We should have like 14 to 16 DLman every year across the 4 year spectrum. That’s 4 for every season and allows for you to generate growth and maybe lose 1 or 2 every other season but if you lose players, then you need to replace that player either in the next cycle or in portal.

We are on our way to that place with the OL but we are still not there yet. We need to land 4 on average every season to stay a healthy unit all season. You need around 4-5 on the OL as well. You do that and you can sometimes afford to lose players when you have freshman or RS freshman able to start for you. But you want to be able to let those guys earn that spot and not need them for it. We are a ways off from there on both lines. LB and DB aren’t the same way. You want those veteran guys there but if you have 2 vets and 1 freshman who can play a role then you can get by with that. You can on the DL and OL also but those are your backbone to the team. That’s your structure or foundation so that needs to be the strongest spots on a team. Then QB, WR, RB and TE.

Since we have little issue getting great RBs, WRs, and DBs we need to take advantage of that and start working on those other positions and maybe let a little energy slip from those 3 positions that seem to be much easier for us to add depth. Keep our energy and focus on the other spots in the order of importance to the team, each season.

Each season the DL, OL, LB and QB positions need the most in that order for now. Then those 4 can be switched up each season but should stay as the top 4, most of the time, especially for LSU. You don’t let the others slip completely but gear the program to those top 4 until they’re strong then maybe you can switch that up a little as you become known as the school to be for those spots. We can do it too.

Nails.
Tygee looked a little top heavy to me in the Bowl. Who knows about Langston.
I'm optimistic about young Mr Shand being more than expected. I saw disciplined Coached up play from the little I've watched and if that is his everyday motor there will be positive effects coming from him the same way as the play of Mehki/Maason allows others to be better.
