Vol pretty clearly saw this coming this morning. Not sure what reason he would have to spin this into anything like that. If Rakim truly just flipped on his own he could’ve just said he was blindsided by it

The problem was Rakim refused to sign today. He made up a story about his school not letting him sign early, while he had classmates signing today. The guy was not being truthful. Then you had Burton and family saying they would not sign if Rakim was in this class. So, our coaches had a choice and they probably told Rakim sign or get off the pot. He refused, so we let him go and are now waiting on Burton to fax in his papers. Things like this happens. Wait it out on Rakim and risk losing both receivers, or let Rakim go and get a good one in Burton.

It's also been insinuated by an insider that Rak damn near lost his hand when he tried to stick it out before ultimately signing with Maryland. Those Maryland boosters aren't fricking around

This is how i see it. I figure we were probably uneasy on Rak considering the BS "my school wont let me sign" nonsense. So when Burton gave us an ultimatum, we went with the sure thing instead of risking losing both.
Now, that's all assuming that vol's story wasn't just spin. Normally I'd say of course it's just spin, but Vol seemed to know something was up with Rak earlier this morning, and has been pretty accurate throughout the process. So who knows. I just hope to god we can get Burton, and believing vol's story allows me to believe we'll get burton, so that's what i'm choosing to believe for now.

This I could believe. shite happens. We don't land everyone we want and we'll just move on. Every kid that's de-committed over the last two months everyone has tries to spin as they've been "processed".
