Connections to the NBA are irrelevant. Talent gets to the NBA. Coaches can prepare players and put them in the right spot or system to excel, but no player is making the NBA due to connections.

Its pretty simple, he can sell them his connection to the NBA. At the end of the day each one of these recruits want to be NBA players. Penny has connections all over the league, he is telling these kids that he will get them to the NBA.

Has nothing to do with that. All about simply the glamour for playing for someone kids might be familiar with from watching on tv.

I hope Penny wins a lot next season because he setting up expectations sky high for those fans bringing in the #1 overall player along with DJ Jeffries, and if they get guys like Watford/Quinones too...They will expect to win a lot right away, because those guys arent sticking around. They are being sold play for an NBA player and then go to the NBA.

If he fails to make the tournament with Wiseman on his team he could have a pretty short stint at Memphis. Avery only lasted 4 seasons at Alabama, but bought himself an extra 4th year when he got Sexton and went to the tourney in the 3rd year.

Well obviously you have to have the talent to play in the NBA. But, i promise you that Penny is selling these kids on him being a former NBA player (a great one at that) and his connections to the league. He is telling them that he knows what needs to be done to make them an NBA player.

A high school player is going to listen to Penny about the NBA before he listens to Wade about the NBA. Penny played 14 season in the NBA, Wade didn't play college basketball.

Wade is pushing them on developing their game, joining a winning team and a winning program.

Obviously I'm all LSU and i have confidence that General Wade will get them to LSU. I just hope the kids don't fall for Penny's 1 and done NBA sales pitch. Being a great NBA player doesn't mean your going to be a great coach.
