One of the dumbest posts I've ever seen on this board. Congrats .

Dinardo improved that some, but still lost out on some big time players. Warrick Dunn and Travis Minor to FSU come to mind.
Ed Reed and Reggie Wayne as well. What can you expect with 4-7 seasons.

Warrick Dunn was before DiNardo and frankly he need to get out of BR after what happened to his mom.

Reggie Wayne signed with Miami in 97. In 96 LSU was 10-2. Ed Reed signed in 98, LSU was 9-3 in 97.

When he was fired, DiNardo needed to go, but lets give credit where credit is due. He left the program in better shape than when he took over, he had a winning record at LSU.

Not sure if all of ya'll are aware of this list.. but... it is interesting to peruse... especially if you remember the old days..

LINK

It seems the big misses that come back to hurt are on the O-Line and QB... there is a pattern.

Reggie Wayne FWIW.. wanted out of Nola.. and there were several kids from Westbank that he knew well already at MIAMI... as well as at least ONE assistant coach that he knew.

Surprised nobody has mentioned Marshall Faulk to San Diego State.
Didn't we lsoe a couple of good guys to Michigan in the 80's?

No doubt Dinardo had some good seasons, but they were pretty sporadic. The best bowl we went to was the Peach bowl. Now we are like the Miami and FSU teams of the 90s. Now would we have gotten all those guys probably not but if we were this good back then we would have gotten some of them.

70's a lot of la players
80's Arnsparger and Archer went out of state more, Archer not too successful
90's Hallman and Dinardo spent more time in state but the best players were going to the U and Fla St and all over
00's Saban started keeping them home
Miles has continued trend and the players they are getting from out of state are highly regarded

Chris Howard from Curtis had a very good career at Michigan. Shoot, Rod West from Brother Martin goes to Notre Dame and winds up on the LSU Board of Supervisors. Kinda shoots down the notion of you can't come back home and be welcomed, eh?

We also missed on Talman Gardner. WR from Mc 35 if I recall. Never really blossomed at FSU, but jeez, missing on he and Wayne. I met the sister of Bennie Gilbeaux (DB @ ND) @ the 97 ND game. I asked her why he didn't come to BR. She replied, "ask Curly Hallman". And I'll still never understand letting Major Applewhite get outta BR.

Guys, in this day and age, this is not different than any other recruiting class.

They all keep in touch and do things together (ie. camps) so this not a revelation.

That said, it still is great to see.

Just don't think it only happens in one place.

Only the best for two of the most dominanting teams in cfb history.

Only the best...

IIRC we signed Rohan Davey the year Applewhite came out.

This is another case of 20/20 hindsight and Applewhite is grossly over rated anyway.

Truth is LSU has recruited the whole state! Problem was that during the latter 60's and early 70's we lost a lot of good athletes...yes black players that LSU either would not go after or just could not get. Back then a lot of schools, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, USC, who at the time were better than the Tigers got some good players from Louisiana. BUT LSU got most of the best in the state. Sadly, some of those who left were very good and could have helped the Tiger program.
