Purdue DL pledge Gilbert unsigned, considered LSU previously

Scrolling through the top DTs unsigned and Purdue pledge Kendrick Gilbert is the top name.
Both On3 and 247 lists LSU as one of his top 4 schools before committing to Purdue, along with Kentucky and Iowa.
I don’t recall hearing his name much before, does anyone know how interested LSU was prior?
Certainly intriguing considering Purdue switching staffs.

Just found Gilbert visited LSU in the summer. And Kelly, Polian obviously have connections to his high school and him from their time in Indiana.
Will be interesting to see if LSU circled back around to this guy

That's a nice find. He'd be a perfect fit for this class.
And he's of a size that if he doesn't work out at DT he could flip to the offensive line.

I think even with the transfers and Wiggins, potentially, moving inside, you still need 1 more DT
Smith, Wingo and Jefferson all could be gone in 2024.
Gilbert is thought of as a solid 4 star prospect unanimously

Good eye brother, certainly under the radar and can be a good developmental piece for a needed position. Hopefully he strongly considers LSU

Kendrick Gilbert …Jamel Howard…and Kyron Bourda …could be a really good finish ( I’m not saying we get all 3 )

You’re only saying that because they’ve had to go out of state for DLs. Louisiana isn’t producing many unfortunately.
