Great post Zombie. Coach Kelly did a great job pulling in the guys that he did given that Orgeron has apparently quit recruiting in late September.
Access to the portal will help greatly with offsetting loses among high school prospects so it helps having a great coach like Kelly to navigate that from a roster management perspective

It shouldn't be overlooked... it will be tonight going into tomorrow because of who we didn't get.
But the recruiting season, after the melts are over, must be taken as a whole. In context this one was pretty damn good.
I mean that from the POV of filling holes. The type holes where you as a coach say "holy shite, if we don't find a good ___________, we're fricked". Those holes got filled. Or almost all of them- only 1 is missing and that's a C which will be addressed by moving a OT around.
But overall I'm ignoring the #6 in all this. And looking at it through the eyes of a coach who sees this and says "I can now go win some games".

They managed to stabilize a ship that was capsizing, rather quickly too. It sets us up really well for the future. NIL and the portal changes things, but you have to feel pretty good with the staff we have in place. We might not ever end up with the top HS recruiting class, but we'll be near the top and we can fill holes with the portal.

For awhile it looked like an offshore rig escape capsule with 3 fat guys on one side. More of a barrel roll than a capsize.
They didn't right the ship. They got the hell out of that one, found another, kicked out the dead weight and took it over like a bunch of pirates.
It's not the best result ever. But it just might be the best job ever.
