I think this is a very good sign that we will land Watford (was fairly confident before this announcement).

If Memphis gets Hampton (which doesn't look probable) They will have the brand new fab 5 freshman. Not better than dukes class last year though.

Had no idea Mike Miller was his main recruiter and assistant... they should have a solid team for awhile if he can coach half as well as he’s recruiting

Not really...both are very good but Watford has been LSU for a while so it’s not been a decision situation here

I am curious if anybody in National media "cough, cough" is looking into how a nobody program like Memphis is getting all these high power recruits to come in and play for a first time NCAA head coach!!!

Penny recruited high school kids to East high school from around the nation. He won high school national championships. He was a giant in the AAU scene. Memphis is a basketball school. Penny has close affiliation with Nike. Cheating or not. He would’ve been able to get players. I live in Memphis and he is one beloved SOB

Memphis has a bigger basketball fan base than LSU by a lot. Bigger crowds.
History is just as if not more impressive for Memphis too.

Penny may be putting together a great class, but he won't have all of them for more than 1 year. I think Quinones made a mistake by going Memphis. He won't make the starting 5 this year and next year he will have some 5 star freshmen to compete with. Penny is cleaning house this off-season, but I don't expect this class to be better than Duke or the Fab 5. People underestimate the importance of having players with college experience.
