neither school can "cool" on him

Sure they can.
Here's how it works HYPOTHETICALLY:
Hootie: Hello.
Frank: Hi Hootie. We have moved on. Thanks for everything.
Hootie: Ok Coach Frank. frick you too.
Both hang up.
Events change things. Just because the kid has legal "protection" doesn't mean he's welcome or that he would want to go to a place that has moved on.

Guys.
Ponamsky's whole story was that Bama had processed Hootie and LSU didn't want him back, and now Ohio State was making a push.
Ohio State cannot contact him during the dead period right now.
Alabama and LSU can't withdraw their offers now.
Ponamsky is 100% full of it on this.
It's ok. Maybe he's got good info most of the time; doesn't mean he can't be wrong here. shite happens.
But nothing he said about his story made sense.

Nothing? Really? Ok.

Bama had processed Hootie
HE SPECIFICALLY SAID THAT WAS NOT THE CASE.
He made a special point to say that was NOT his contention.
C'mon man.

I don't disagree with anything they said on 104.5 today. People that flipped out aren't very good at listening. Everything they said is plausable, nothing earth shattering, and Ponamsky was clear about what was a fact and what was his opinion.
Agreed. It's like an alternate Universe. They were measured, they weren't pushing any particular agenda, just reporting what they had been told. They did not deserve the personal vitriol.
Sad to see LSU fans acting like Gumps-afraid their ears will hear something that is not the Party line-must kill it now....

Damn guys...

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the papers that have been signed are financial aid papers, and not "Letters of Intent". There isn't a early signing period for EEs, so there must be a difference. Can't LSU offer financial aid without guaranteeing a football scholarship?

This is where the problem is. What he said is not "fact" unless he got the info straight from Hootie himself. His sources told him the LSU staff hasn't spoken with Hootie. You think Ponamsky has all the coaches on speed dial and can call Brick or Frank anytime he wants for some recruiting scoop? His source could be wrong, or possibly his source(s) don't know that Hootie spoke with someone on the staff since he dropped Bama. Also, Sonny's sources who told him the exact opposite of what Ponamsky is saying could also be wrong.
Cliffs. Someone is right someone is wrong because sources

From what I understand all LSU is bound to give is financial aid for the spring semester. whether or not hes playing football. It is not a commitment of a scholarship.

You nailed this. I cannot understand how another person can hear such a simple statement and come to a completely different conclusion.
I hope to never have to rely on a jury of my peers for my freedom.

I doubt Hootie will be a safety at LSU or Bama.

Hootie filled out financial aid paperwork for both schools, that's it.
Once Hootie committed to Alabama, LSU was off the hook.

I call bullshite.
We're talking about the same staff that watched Welter play all year and never cooled on him.

It really is bullshite. The OP is boiling down what they said and over simplifying/distorting it.

None of the last 9 pages of bs. amounts to anything. The bottom line is this...if LSU no longer wants Hootie, then he's not going to force any issue...who would want to be where he's no longer wanted. Hootie made his own bed and now must lie in it, period! In sympathy with him, he sounds like he's somewhat conflicted and not clear in his thinking. If he doesn't grow up real quick, he's going to have trouble in life in more way than in football. Good luck Hootie!

I can be your link. I heard the whole show. Thats exactly what he said. LSU has not spoken to Hootie since he verbally committed to Bama. And that they likely don't want or have room for him now.
