I am trying to help my good friends son get an offer to play in college (Marques Hickson). LINKhttps://www.maxpreps.com/m/athlete/marques-hickson/kujED2xJEemA0ZFtwg1OMQ/default.htm I asked the kid if Hawaii or Polynesia had a top 40 like Dandy Don, Crown or a recruiting service. He said it didnt exist. I know Polynesian men have a ridiculous % that make D1 College football and the NFL. My question is how does this not exist? Crown thoughts?

Clicking on your Max Preps link, it looks like Marques would be listed as a Hawaii recruit since he goes to a private school in Hawaii.

No clue if they have a local site like Dandy Don, but 247 had a top 22 list for 2021 prospects. Makes sense that they don’t have a top 40 since they aren’t as deep as Louisiana although there are always good players.

Looks like the top kid from his school went to Washington last year with another landing at Syracuse so it seems like a legit program/.

Very interesting. I have watched the Polynesian bowl maybe once. It's nice that they try to do something for the kids with Polynesian ancestry. However they only go after the cream of the crop.

quote:

The Polynesian Bowl is an annual high school football all-star game held at Aloha Stadium every January featuring the top high school seniors in the country. The majority of the approximately 100 kids selected are of Polynesian ancestry.

Just seems like if those kids want a "real" opportunity or are just a freak athlete they have to fly in to get evaluated by the bigger programs.

2022 Roster has some very familiar names that LSU is recruiting

I have checked Hawaii boards and they're dead with little to no info. Imagine that the schools like BYU, Utah have someone full time that evaluates and has relationships with the coaches there.

Crown, We got Marques into the La. Lineman camp and a camp at UNLV! He also has a workout with Hawaii as well. Gonna get this kid some looks. Its up to him to impress the coaches now!

That’s fantastic! Good luck to the young man. As many camps as possible.

Bad news the Hawaiian HS sports all got canceled. His family is trying to find him a situation in La. Or Tx. For him. He would need a place to live and enroll at a school asap.

Be sure to do due diligence regarding eligibility rules either in Tx or La. Would suck to move across the country only to be ruled ineligible.
