Swinson was a great find.

I bet he had the most pressures on the team(at least 2nd)

Jefferson
Alexander
Sshand

Did you not see LSU's defense this year? We had one of the worst defenses in the COUNTRY. Statistically, Vandy was worse, but to be even be compared to them is insulting, especially in football!

You guys act like we hit HRs with defensive players in the portal and that's not the case. It's clear our defensive coaches have no eye when it comes to identifying talent in the portal.

For those of you pointing out that Daniels was a transfer is just supporting my point! The portal is to bring in players that help your team, not drag them down. It's clear the offensive coaches know how to identify and develop talent, but the defensive coaches are completely lost and it shows by the players they bring in, how they're coached (or not coached) during the week and how they perform on Saturdays.

All those players that you named had one play here and another play a couple of games later, but we need elite defenders like we've had in years past. The portal is there to elevate the talent level you already have, not to just fill a spot. Defensively, we would be much better off simply saving those spots for high school players that we can slowly bring along.

Diggs was an incredible addition, but we signed a boat load of transfer portal guys last year and if you can only name him, that's a problem.

You asked for the best and I named him, so the rest of this post is just as worthless as your first to start off this thread. Several others here have already named the other solid additions this year.

Anderson pretty obviously wasn’t 100% healthy. He missed time throughout the season, but he may prove to be a valuable addition next season. Same for Johnson, who we never saw. As someone else said previously, Alexander was starting to play well and get up to the speed of the game when he got hurt. It sucks that he likely won’t be back until the middle of next season, but he has the makings of a good CB with some better coaching and development.

Other than Ovie, who was pretty average, the D Line additions were fine. They were supposed to be depth guys but were pressed to play bigger roles with Smith struggling and Wingo getting hurt. If you don’t think Jefferson was a great addition, then I don’t know what to tell you other than watch him get drafted.

The only true negatives were Chesnutt, Harris and Speights.

You are either a troll or a fricking idiot. I don’t particularly care which.

Damn you are fricking stupid. We didn’t even have a full 85 last year after bringing in 30 players (15 recruits, 15 portal) and giving some walk ons scholarships. Then we lost several of the incoming portal players who only had one year remaining, a few heading out via the portal, and then guys who ran out of eligibility and left for the draft after the 22 season.

We signed a much bigger and solidly ranked freshman class for 23, but we still had multiple holes to fill. We basically had to rebuild the secondary for the second year in a row. We needed veteran depth at LB and on the DL. If we had played a bunch of freshman, as you seem to be in favor of, we probably would have been worse, especially with House’s overly-complicated scheme.

Kelly has made it clear that he’s favoring HS recruiting going forward, but fricking hell. We had to field a functional roster the last two seasons. The staff did that. It wasn’t always pretty, but look at Auburn and UF to see how much worse a rebuild can go.

So what are you complaining about? Kelly is prioritizing HS recruiting now. We will likely only bring in 10 or fewer via the portal this year. So far, we have a likely starter at S and a punt returner and veteran WR, both with SEC experience. There’s a starting SEC CB on campus this weekend who is an almost certain starter if he signs. Do you seriously have an issue with any of these picks?

The difference between you and I is I'm able to take off the purple and gold sunglasses and look at it objectively. You guys act like we hit HRs in the portal with defensive players.

Sounds like you guys want the exact same defense and they will be vastly improved with a year under its belt! We're LSU and have a long history of dominating defenses and we're now one of the worst defenses in the country! Is that OK for you?

The transfer portal is a tool to upgrade your team, not regress, which is exactly what is happening at LSU on defense!

You guys are either blind, dumb or you need to find a better crack dealer because you guys are having visions that simply aren't happening!

We're LSU and we expect our defenses to be one of the most dominating every year, not being compared with the worst defenses in the country! If you guys are okay with the defenses LSU has had the last couple of years, you need to go find another team to cheer for because it's not acceptable to 99% of real LSU fans.

You are right about them missing on players In 2023.

I was just pointing out that je pfferson and swinson would've been hits in 2022 also.

I've been saying they better start grabbing some defensive players in the portal.

Paul, the lb from Arkansas would've been nice.

Hope those evaluation experts are on the way out the door, they wouldn’t last long at Bama or uga..

I couldn't agree more and that should also be the standard at LSU. Unlike in years past, both the coaches and the players are now getting paid very well, so if they can't produce, they need to hit the road.

LSU has a long history of having stout defenses and shutting down opponents and that should always be the standard. Currently, LSU's defense is ranked as one of the worst defenses in the country and that's not acceptable under any circumstance!
