True, but Joe also, IMHO, has a huge upside coming soon.......at least I hope so, since he is a local kid.

Article is a bunch of BS..

How can you take any of it seriously when they state...
quote:

Texas' case, the instate competition is so far behind the Longhorns' curve that their exclusively Lonestar crop is practically locked in

Yea uhh they dont have to worry about LSU stealing all the top talent out of Texas or anything..

since when did LSU move to Texas? I get your point, but that is a different point than what he was trying to make.

That article is a joke.
So USC tells commits to keep quiet so no one negatively recruits against them? Please...

Other schools dont know a recruit is interested in USC unless he vebally commits to them????? They wont point out the negatives of USC unless the guy is committed???

I'd like to know what kind of salary these idiot writers make. I could make up much better crap than this.

Can't all be winners like you. I especially liked your comment on LSU/Georgia Tech:

quote:

that is the last team we need to play. they will and mark my words....

run for over 500 yards on lsu!!!!

Your post is full of WIN. Hell, you were close, you only missed by a mere 336 yards.

No offence intended, but the competition level is a bit different.

and its not just Mcknight, it was his coach- Curtis as well, he should have let the coaches know that Mcknight had no intention of going to LSU

why does he have this obligation?

He doesn't, but he chose to give LSU his verbal and when he changed his mind he didn't tell LSU that he had done so, to give us time to go after another DB. That was done on purpose, no question about that. The obligation is not to try and frick over the team you had given your verbal to and had treated you so well up until that point. We are fine without Jackson, but that was dirty brah.

They were talking about McKnight, but you're right; the Jackson-Guidry-Orgeron-Kiffen affair was classless trash.

I hope this kind of recruiting doesn't become the norm. Not saying lots of strange things in recruiting don't occur ever year, but the Jackson saga was so bad, I almost wish Big Brother (NCAA) could look into the matter, although techincally, Tenn. did nothing wrong...

This is a double edged sword. This could also keep other schools full throttle on those kids. When a kid gives a firm commitment and makes that clear to other schools, a lot of schools might back off and not spend as much energy recruiting the kid. In addition, the recruit may feel less pressure to decommit, because he has never given a public verbal.

Either way, poor Pete's feeling the heat. Saban will feel it too now with Kiffin's staff and Auburn's staff being better recruiters and now cranking up the recruiting in the state of Alabama. I look for Tennessee to regain the strong push in North Alabama that they used to have. I hope Saban enjoyed the honeymoon.

Just my personal opinion, but Joe McKnight not signing with LSU wasn't a big loss from watching him play last year.........especially compared to what we have.

I see your reasoning on this and if any of these coaches had any ethics it would be accurate, but nowadays it's actually the opposite. I've seen instances where someone like Urban Meyer has sat back on guys until they've committed and then put on the full court press. The theory behind it is that once they are committed he only has to recruit against that one school, not several. It's shitty, but that's the type of thing being done now.

Also, with guys like Ronald Johnson and Joe McKnight, they would have faced so much more hometown pressure had they committed early that even as hectic as it got for them, it saved them some headache by waiting so long to make it public.

Not a USC fan, but find it kind of interesting he lost most his recruits to the new coach of UCLA who has a history of recruiting violations.

How do you think USC has been ruling the west coast for decades? There isn't nearly the scrutiny from the media here on collge football as there is in the south, so all these guys can get away with cheating.

McKnight and JT Curtis didn't owe LSU anything
