high school games aren't played in a phone booth anymore
everyone is running spread concepts and passing way more then they used to
7 on 7 filters into the game itself
not much different then flag football these days

You must not go to many high school games, or your local high school is soft.

Saw Pop Houston vs LCA last week (I streamed it). He is a heck of an athlete and looks to be tough as nails to boot.

Going to tell you a secret to help you in the future…
90% of high D1 guys in HS look like badass SOBs. Some don’t, but usually they’re playing against someone so inferior they have confidence and just can dominate. It is when you come across someone with equal talent, what happens when you get hit in the mouth. That’s an unknown and why recruiting experts miss so many prospects.
Add in giving an 18 year old $500k and almost impossible to know their mentality

I’d say less now because more of them are playing talent on their level now…

Watched Brysten Martinez play a few weeks ago and was very impressed at his athleticism for a big guy

Who would've thought the 18 year old whose been that size since 14 years old and an all state basketball player would move that well. I remember his FR year getting an unnecessary roughness f;lag for driving Dylan Carpenter at STA into the dirt

Guess you haven’t watched my high school football lately….

The best athletes across the board are to small or undersized. It is an anomaly to have a 6'5 dog with a high motor with no quit! You can coach everything but heart and a motor or that dog mentality, either you got it or ya don't. We have a kid 2 D1 kids on our lines at OG hs in hattiesburg,ms.
One is a sure enough dog the other is docil and isnt mean at all but he had offers from Georgia and some big schools. Hes 6'8 and can move for a big guy. I always forget about him bc hes so docil and i love defense way more. This is a picture of my son and the OL and the kid im speaking of. We have 3 OL with offers one is committedto the Ragin Cajuns Trae Shaw LINK

My son is the smallest guy all the way to the right. Lol hes a legit 6'1 190 at the moment. Hes a sophomore and has a ways to go but he has that dog in him and loves contact. He blocks some big arse dudes week in and week out. Lsu is recruiting a couple of the kids on this team and maybe a few more in the next couple of years. 2 sophomore and 2 JRs in that picture. I provide info along with a chance to brag on my son when given a chance. Lol

Well yeah they’re not usually the ones who have to work for everything they get

i’ve seen Louisiana recruits that played for lsu the last 4-5 years and all but a handful were absolutely trash
not sure who is evaluating these players in high school but they are severely overrated

Compared to Texas (only state I am familiar with to compare) Louisiana still has a much bigger % of run first/option teams. Louisiana is at least a decade behind in offensive philosophy.
A lot of the traditional powerhouses run the split back veer, I formation, etc.

Hard to get a 6’5” QB in high school to throw the ball all over the field. Much easier to get the 6’ kid that can run and throw a little.
