Tonight I'm reading all this news on bama news sites that Surtain is a sure thing to now go to bama. Any real news to contradict this report?

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he did go regardless how much of a lock everyone here has said over the last year.

I expect Surtain to be at LSU this fall but it wouldn't be the most surprising flip in the world if he ended up somehow at Bama

We will see soon

Yea, there is alot of smoke. It doesn't help that he said Bama depth is the best for him to start.

None of the expert insiders seem to think so.

Let me get this straight, Surtain has been all LSU for over a year now, with nothing significantly different on our sefensive staff, with a former LSU DB having one of the better rookie seasons this year at Buffalo, a proven track record of producing top flight DB's with a coach who he is familiar with both as a great positional coach and developer of NFL talent, to all of the sudden after one visit is all Bama??

If that is truly the case, then my own thoughts on recruiting are far skewed from the norm. Seems all that matters to recruits would be what the current hot commodity is in college. Just as USC was for a few years from 2003-08.

That was my initial thinking with first post. If he wanted LSU, why go visit Bama for your last visit? I see the flip coming. Don't want it but it could happen. If he was all LSU, he would have committed early signing period. I've seen this movie before.

I know he said that but has anyone not wondered why Raymond hasn't countered that thought? Has he seen our cb depth chart?
Kirklin-who knows if he ever contributes.
Williams- stud could leave next year if he chooses.
Vincent- good nickel but who knows if he is ready to be a full time cover guy.
Fulton-good talent but no one knows when or if he will ever be what he was supposed to be.
Anyone else? And people really question If we should take Goodrich or not. This isn't DBU level depth or talent if you ask me. Makes cooling on Anthony Cook seem kind of questionable doesn't it?

Yep, this is exactly what happened with Tony Brown. No one on this board could even fathom how he ever could end up at Bama, but somehow he did.

That being said, I believe we'll get Surtain.

I agree totally VA.

I think the numbers were mismanaged a little this year.

We were in the running for about 7 or so of the top 10 cb in this class and still sit at 0 signed and 0 committed.

I think that we needed 4 db in this class.

Save 2 for Surtain and Joseph.
Then push hard for Cook; Campbell; Green; Goodrich etc and take the first 2 that want in.

I would not have cooled on Anthony Cook if that is what actually happened.
I wanted Green even more than Cook.

Some blessings are blessings in disguise. Tony Brown ended up being an average CB and only played significant playing time this past year at Bama and he wasn't even that good. It will be interesting to see if he is even drafted. My guess is he will be a free agent pick up. Surtain seems to be a better prospect coming out of HS and hopefully he will pick LSU.
