The kid is quite obviously looking for the biggest pay day possible. He’s played 10 varsity football games in his entire life.

Not saying I don’t want him on my team or with LSU but I’m not super upset about missing out on him. I know it would cost LSU a huge chunk of change to obtain him and I’d much rather get a proven portal guy or 2 with what it would cost to get him.

Also considering his high school history (3 in 3 years, didn’t even play a game at the third (Edna)) who’s to say he won’t be available in the portal next year?

I wish I could place a future on him being in portal next year.

Question… why are we assuming proven portal players will cost less than HS talent?

They’re proven, meaning they’ve actually done something in college football

Sopsher 2.0

After a big sophomore year, Sop barely practiced and took most of the plays off his Jr and Sr year.

After a big sophomore year, JS barely practiced, reclassed (skipped his whole Jr year) and took his whole Sr season off.

I'm also kinda on the fence with Stewart. His physical attributes are spectacular, but his lack of experience and (perceived) bag-chasing make him a "low-floor/high-ceiling" prospect for me.

Could he turn into the next K'Lavon Chaisson or Danielle Hunter? He looks the part. But he could also be the next Ish Sopsher or Trevonte Valentine (i.e. 5-star busts).

So I'll be glad if we get him, but won't cry if we don't. He's not a sure-thing, but he's definitely worth a few stacks to see what he can do.

10 varsity games as a sophomore in high school.

Hasn't played football since he was 16 years old.

Missed his junior season because someone gave him bad transfer advice.

Skipped is senior season because "The kid had grown tired of high school football".

Is looking for a $6M NIL deal.

Yeah, USC can have all of that.

I don’t think you can spend money on someone who has so limited experience. I mean it’s a big what if with this guy.

If ever there was a need for a CFB version of a "one-year prove-it deal" in NIL, Stewart is the prime reason.

In a perfect world, someone would sign him to a NIL deal that gave him some good pocket money in the first year to prove he's worth it, with bigger payouts in years 2 and 3 as incentive.

But, this ain't a perfect world, and someone will likely back up a Brinks truck to get him to sign and pray he's worth the money they're spending (or blowing, depending on what happens).

Welcome to modern CFB, my friends.

[EDIT: Welp, 10mil USC bucks for Stewart to go to LaLa Land. By, Felicia. don't blow it all in one place!]
