it is at LSU

Dude your losing sight of the argument, read the fricking title of the thread

This may be true to an extent, and hopefully having Shepard in Spring practice will be enough time to work with some of the backs (and maybe more importantly with the line).

are we using an avg. star ranking created by those who have as much qualification as you or i?
Then is the statement made in the original topic just idiotic?

Hey, would if we finish out with Randle, somehow get Trent Richardson from Bama, and then steal back Debose from CUM.

do we ever get these?
you'd think in the greatest recruiting class of all time, we'd get at least 1
quote:
and none of them were from Louisiana
i don't think we'll ever have the greatest recruiting class in the history of mankind without some high 4s and 5s from out of state
quote:
Campbell, yes.. but who cares? he was probably an OL project at LSU anyway
um, he's still a 5-star lineman
quote:
Debose was a silent commit and we lost him to his home school which is probably the hottest school in the country to go to right now for a prospect like him... big fricking deal
we got out-recruited by UF when he was our's for a long, long time. that stung
quote:
WE LOST 5 GAMES THIS YEAR AND WE HAVE THE #1 CLASS
that still doesn't get into (1) our finish or (2) the rank of this class when compared to the best all time

Wow. Now that's optimism.

how would you classify the offense that crowton implemented with Dixon as QB at UO?
not that great and an offense that got a lot better when chip kelly took over control of it
Posted on 1/18/09 at 11:11 am to Jsoula
This is simple. If we finish with the highest star average ever then its the best class ever. If we dont, then its not. Simple

that's not what's being discussed
"greatest classes ever"

that doesn't account for depth really

Remember in the move "Bruce Almighty" when the monkey came out of the guy's Arse? Well...that would happen in real life before your scenario happens...

it got better when dixon matured. giving kelly all the credit is extremely short sighted, but you seem to be in a dramatic mood today so I'll let you run

You may disagree but LSU held off on offering other RBs because we were full at RB with Ford and Pratt.
wrong, we just were very selective... we have been waiting on TR and would take him in a heartbeat ..with Lache next year and Hilliard the year after we can be selective and not take kids like Christine Michael, etc.
Who knows what the coaches were thinking with Pratt? I would bet they felt he was a good enought ATH with good enough size that if he could not make it at RB then he would project at a number of other positions including LB & TE.. not a bad assumption
Also, his stock dropped a lot through his senior season..that is a fact... I don't think he would have contributed significantly in our backfield

Ford?
+1. Ford may not beat out Ridley but the kid is beyond legit'.

Doesnt matter. recruiting classes arent ranked on depth.
Posted on 1/18/09 at 11:15 am to BilJ
Again, if we grade classes based on meeting needs, then I think it's got to be at least a small disappointment if we don't get a prototypical pass-rushing end (and this does not include Mingo who would be a project at WDE at best). Ending without Montgomery (or Fletcher Cox... who was a real possibility early on) would be a disappointment to some extent.

from what i've read, kelly simplified the offense and moved form a horizontally-based offense

I liked pratt, but bruisers like him aren't exactly hard to come by. Is he really that much better than singleton?
