Pretty much especially when you use Indiana as an example.

If you continue with the Indiana theme, it shows how important coaching is from roster building, roster retention, roster development and team chemistry.

It's just that more times than not teams with very talented rosters can get away with subpar coaching and still win so the recruiting services are vindicated more times than not.

Yes, it’s all click bait.

What does that even mean? Unless you can see into the future, a theary is as good as it gets, better than a WAG.

Just use players entering ranking only

Don’t buy or even read that propaganda. Regarding the portal, all you need to know is if you have upgraded the roster and filled positions of need. The rest, like rankings, will get sorted when the games are played.

The only way I can make sense of it is it looks like they are rewarding the biggest net improvement. If a team loses 30 players with a net average of 70 and replaces them with 30 players with a net average of 71, then you improved your average per player rating by 1. If you lost 30 players with an average of 60 and you replaced with an average rating of 65 you improved your average rating by 5 and are ranked higher, even though your total rating of new players is still lower. They factor total number of players in there somewhere too,

I get that they are trying to grade net gains and losses, but what about a team that loses 30 to graduation and the draft and only loses 5 to the portal and replaces with 10 from the portal. According to this rating they have a net gain. If you are going to award gains, then only award gains, if you are going to punish losses, punish all losses and not just portal losses.

So they can create random chatter on message boards, which drives clicks to their site.

On3 always tries to outthink the room.

You can do this calculation yourself. List how many of the 30 we lost to the portal were regrettable and how many coming in can make a big impact.
I see us losing 3-4 good players…mostly unproven receivers. Conversely I also believe we are adding 8-9 impact players in positions of great need…mostly QB and OL players.
So no matter how this class is rated by pundits, we will have more talent on offense this coming season and better coaching. And we have replaced the lost receivers. QB play, OL, and coaching will be much improved…and give the defense a break. The defense was on the field too much last season!
We will miss Monsoor Delane on the back end of the defense, but hopefully someone steps up.
I think we win at least 3 or 4 more games this year, then build from there.
Kiffin is the first coach hire I have believed in in a very long time. Wanted CEO to be the real deal, however I wasn’t sold on him. Kiffin can recruit AND coach. Just needs to keep himself out of trouble!

I just clicked your link and it has LSU in 6th, ahead of both ND and ArKansas. What am I missing?

It's another worthless "metric" created for clicks. Most are heavily based on assumptions made by soi-disant experts (people paid to blather).

Higher number transfer out (Avg. P) is bad, that means LSU lost more talent

This is very true. Add to the fact that LSU lost BK, Sloan, FW, Hankton, a strength coach. LSU is so doomed......
