Really? You see no possible relation at all? How could that game NOT effect an 18 year old kid who wants to play QB early?
LSU was one of two teams to make to the BCSNC. And it's failure in that game was largely due to a lack of talent at QB.
If the BCSNC played any part in this then Kiel is literally stupid.
If you want to play conspiracy theorist I'd guess it has something to do with Kragthorpe. If he has decided to step down or something like that, I could see That being a deal breaker for Kiel.
In truth, there is a 90% chance that family and or distance is the issue...and the Dreaux's of the world are just whining because It helps them get over their disappointment to find blame.

Take this FWIW.
My roommate is on ND's football team. There was a team meeting tonight. He said Gunner was not there and the coaching staff made no mention of Gunner.
However, he also said there was another football player (Davaris Daniels) who was going to move from his old dorm (Carroll) to room with Amir Carlisle (a new transfer from USC) in O'Neill Hall. However, Daniels now is back in Carroll as a different student is with Amir in O'Neill. Now, at Notre Dame, when players come in as freshmen, they are paired with random students in rooms, so it's possible this is the case. However, given that this is occurring in the spring semester, and not fall, and the reports of Gunner in O'Neill, there are signs there.

I've pretty much given up on it now. He's not coming to LSU.
Though your post is quite interesting.

I really don't think that some of you reaize just what effect the NCG had on the high school athletes in the country thinking about LSU. This is the beginning of the end. That's the deal. Believe whatever deluison you want. Our school was embarassed on national tv. Mainly, our coach.

The possibility was tossed out mainly to make it easier for GK to commit.
But a buttload of rantards were worrying about Randle being the second coming of JJ earlier this week, seeing as he's 'mobile' and shite. They were all bitching about neither Mett or Kiel getting a fair shake seeing as CLM has a hard on for mobile QBs who can use their legs, and that Randle being on the roster as QB meant that both would ride the bench.
So which is it? Am I supposed to be worried that Randle is a hugely talented QB that CLM is pushing to the side over a personal favorite with far less talents...or am I supposed to be worried that Randle is a far less talented QB who will be favored over future HoFers because he's 'mobile'???

Randle made for a far better WR in college and will be drafted in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Honestly, in our adult minds we would like to think the NC wouldn't have had an effect of recruits, but we have to think like an 18 year old in high school to understand that national attention and yes.national championships mean alot to their choice. Its all about being popular both on a national and personal level in some, if not most cases.

I don't want to see randle because I'm tired of seeing a zone read option based offense where defenses can crowd the line and is not beneficial to our power running backs. I want to see an offense the was similar to our 2006 and 2007 seasons.

There is a national scout guy who just released that the NCG was a factor in the family's decision. TIFWIW!

Dave Berk on Scout, just said that watching the NC game DID play a role in the decision.
don't shoot the messenger.
ETA: HOWEVER, he said he hasn't talked to Gunner or the family. . .so he may just be speculating.

Randle will be a back up and play situationally similar to Perriloux in 07 IMO. After Mett graduates, if he has developed enough, I could see him starting.
But don't worry, he isn't the second coming of JJ.

Somebody direct P. Miller to the nearest U-haul site.
Guess what, a EE spot just happened to opened up.
Thanks Gunner.

Gosh almighty, 35 pages of postings over an 18 year old that can't decide what the heck to do - stop the insanity!!! if he shows up fine, if not what the heck, we have Mett, Rivers and some more in line and next year to reload.
