I don't recall hearing much from Bennie Logan this year. Is he an attrition candidate?

I think he's in better standing than Davenport at this point. He only played garbage time; however, his name was called several times when he did play.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Logan in the Top 4 rotation at DT when the season starts.

He is coming on strong and Spring will prove it. He's my sleeper.

iirc, Fordham walked on after they asked him to greyshirt, is it a given that he will get a scholly now?

Just like if he accepted the greyshirt he's supposed to be getting a scholly. I think I've read somewhere that he is getting one also

SaturdayNight Slant.com has a nice breakdown of the roster(scholarship players only) as it currently stands. They have added Mettenberger,Hilliard,Johnson and Fordham to the roster and have our current number at 71.That's 12 under the 83 and with 24 being the likely number(adding Fordham) that means we need 8 more spots on the roster.

Going to be interesting to see who is leaving but by looking there are some obvious candidate.

QB-You have to think J. Lee is going to transfer.I would in his position. He will basically be wasting his Sr. year here.I'd love for him to stay but in his best interest he should go. 1
FB-Theriot should go.he'll never see the field here. 2
TE-a couple candidates here but Tyler Edwards is likely the guy but maybe one of the sr.s. 3
OL-I would think matt Branch is a good candidate to leave.he's lost on the depth chart.Could be another suprise guy come from here. 4
DB-Derrick Bryant,Rocky Duplessiss,Ryan St. Julien. There is no reason for any of them to stay here.Bryant i could understand by him being a SR and he does play on special teams but he may want a chance to show what he can do on defense at another school. 5,6,7

That would be 7 so we would need 1 more or maybe 1 or 2 of those guys stay and we grayshirt a couple of guys or have a non qualifier or 2.Either way it seems that unless there is a major suprise loss we should be able to get down to 83 pretty easily without losing anybody that is ever really going to make a significant contribution.I hate having to talk about Tigers in this way, they all should have our full support, but this is the reality of the business that is college football now.I wish all these guys and every other Tiger the best but some have to go and to me these are the obvious guys on the list.

Tyler Edwards

He played quite a bit in the bowl game. Don't see him going anywhere.

I have it at 9 if we sign 24. Do you have a link to the article?

Edwards could have been auditioning for a job.It happens all the time in bowls. You've got to look at the depth chart. There are 4 guys at the position ahead of him(Russian for a different reason)with Travis Dickson and Nick Jacobs both pushing this spring. There are others more deserving of leaving perhaps but there is a very good chance that Dickson takes his spot and as a JR. he may want to look elsewhere if he wants to continue playing.Jacobs will be ahead of him in regards to being a blocker as well.Just think that 7 TE's are too many on a team.Edwards has played the least of all except for the 2 that redshirted this year. We've got to make some people leave one way or another and he's never going to be more than a backup so he looks like a prime candidate to me.

Bonjourno, the roster is listed on Saturdaynightslant.com and is under the roster heading. To reiterate the 24 number I have is counting Fordham,so that would mean 23 HS signees. If it were 24 hs signees then 9 would be correct but I'm using 23 hs signees plus Fordham to get 24.

Their roster has 71 with Johnson,Mettenberger,Fordham and Hilliard added. That would leave 20 to add to take us to 91.We need to get rid of 8 to get to 83.

Wish we could have made more room last year for this epic 2011 crop. Instead we over-signed.

Great thread. Didn't realize that 9 would have to go from current players.

Yea I meant 23. I don't know why I said 24. Anyway, I still have it at 9 rather than 8. With those EEs I have us at 72 compared to SNS who have it at 71. I'll have to check the roster later and see where the discrepancy is

ETA: I recounted and I think that their numbers are right. I will edit OP

I didn't count them on the site,I just took their word for it so if their numbers are wrong then I stand corrected but it looks a lot better than i originally thought.Unless there is a major suprise it seems we will get by pretty fortunate to not lose anyone that's vital. From the looks of things next year is another good year in state(not top heavy like this one but I think it's going to suprise some people;15-17 kids in state that we could/should take)so this thread will be back next year.I'm sure some guys that we currently think are vital will become expendable but as of now it looks like we may have to lose some guys next year that we may not want to.Of course it will depend on how many we take.

Yea, but next year we will have more SRs leaving and we'll also have the sanctions removed so we can go back to 85 instead of 83. So I don't think we will have as much attrition as this year
