Miles really crapped the pot with his refusal to change offensively. All those losses perpetuated more losses on the recruiting trail.

Give the talent of 2006 to 2014 to this LSU Staff, and you would have split the games with Bama along with the SEC Championships and trips to the BCS.

2016 #2 nationally

EDIT #1: In 2016, we signed 12 lineman. 10 of which were top 20 in the country at their position. The other 2 were top 100.

QB: Lindsey Scott was the GPOTY. We signed him. He transferred.

2015 #5 nationally

In 2015, we signed 7 lineman. All were top 52 at their position. This isn't counting the TE that were converted to OL

QB: Justin McMillan was the 35th ranked QB in the nation. He hasn't played a down (or not many at all)

2014 #2 nationally

In 2014, we signed 8 lineman. All were top 20 at their position.

QB: Brandon harris was the #3 rated QB in the nation.

2013 #6 nationally

In 2013, we signed 12 lineman. All were top 20 at their position.

QB: Hayden Rettig was #9 rated QB and Anthony Jennings was the #14. Both have transferred out.

That's a total of 39 lineman on both sides of the ball. Alabama has 41 in that same span of time. Depth shouldn't be an issue. Now, we've lost a lot of guys to the NFL but 2013 players would still be eligible today, had they stayed. They've also converted a lot of big TEs to Lineman. Depth is an issue but it's not because of Miles. I sure wish we could have kept all our in-state talent, but it has nothing to do with Miles. Miles recruited top talent. Once he left, a ton transferred out. That's not on Miles.

It has everything to do with Alabama dishing out new rides to cruits and somehow avoiding being investigated. $$$$

EDIT #2

LINK

In that same span of time, Alabama has signed 41 lineman to LSU's 39. 2 more lineman. They're just better at shoving under-the-table money to players and have them put off the NFL to stay longer.

frick it, I put a lot of work into this. I'm making it a thread on TRant.

the classes have ranked very high. the problem is that the high rankings are filled with kids from certain positions: rb, cb, wr, etc. those classes are not filled with qb, ol, and dl.

dont take this to mean that no highly ranked qb/ol/dl have come here. What i am saying is that those positions have come here in the numbers that wr/cb/s guys have.

I'm just curious if there is a difference in percentage of LSU players that declare early for the draft vs Bama. It may be similar but it seems LSU is higher than most programs.

Don't be lazy. Dig deeper. Compare the disparity in offensive and defensive line recruiting over the last 5 years. The lines and the QB position is where this game has been won and lost.

Translation and filetered bullshite:
Kicker- "nobody had really heard of me. I just decided to go to bama"
Shyheim Carter- "I went to bama because of a barber and some handlers. Turns out I wasn't that good to begin with"
Christopher Allen- "I went to bama under the misconception that, although lsu has the most players in the pros, corch Saban only produces pros."
Cam sims- "I just got offered so they could get Cam Robinson."
Dylan Moses- "I was going to bama the whole time. It was a ruse that was fabricated by my father who lives vicariously through me. Once the truth was exposed, I transferred to IMG to avoid any backlash."
Devonta Smith- "Sam Pettito, a barber and a bagman"
Eddie Lacy-"I was never going to qualify and everyone backed off. Luckily, corch Saban got me enrolled in the JT Curtis maymester class and I was able to bring up my entire high school GPA and ACT. That has expanded my BMI."
Phidarian Mathis- "are y'all buying that shite that no one ever called? I was going Bama the whole time."
Cam Robinson- "my dad suddenly got involved in my life when I made all American. I think he got a red charger out of this."
Hootie- "I got the black charger"
Landon Collins-"they gave my girlfriend a job and a Mercedes. What was I supposed to do? Oh, and my mom and my half brother? HAH! GOT EEMMMM!"

We hardly have anyone left from 2013-2014 classes, that's the difference. Alabama's 2014 class is almost all still there, ours are all gone

That's why I don't understand how they haven't been investigated.

They have players that would go in the first round, who are holding off. The cars, the money, the wiped-away arrests. Something stinks, and idk how they get away with it.

This is spot on. My favorite was Smith saying it was the academics. Such utter bullshite.

Luther Davis = failure
Hootie Jones = failure
Cam Sims = failure.

I see what the writer of this article is trying to do.

To a degree this is true (does Hootie start?). But what it does is it gives Saban inroads and standing with LA HS coaches and players.

Good article and good thread.

Few comments:
- Landon Collins committed to Bama after TGOTC and before 1/9 I think. Some top flight talents just do not want to come here. At the time Les was 3-2 head-to-head with Saban.
- Les recruited well. Talent hasn't been the bigger problem.
- Of the ten LA kids on Bama's roster, how many are we really missing?Buggs no doubt. Of course, Cam Rob was missed. I think Moses and Allen would be getting lots of PT. Not sure about the rest.
- IMO, the biggest factor is not just the last six games or their '15 natty, but that Les went full non-competitive with them. 'If Leonard didn't make a difference (and he didn't) who am I to think I'll will.' If championships matter, no need to come here. That is what needs to change.
