Going to be a weird recruiting cycle

“On Friday, the SEC officially suspended on campus camps and coaches clinics through July 31.”

“For recruits interested in attending camps at LSU, that is no longer an option this summer. “

Film is the main method of evaluation but in person evaluations are very important. Take Emeka Egbuka 5 Star WR. He plays 2A Washington Ball. How does he play against Elite Defensive Backs?

Yep, that is the kind of thing they want to evaluate against equal talent.

So can they host one at Catholic or another close school?

Good thing Coach O has a great relationship with the coaches at Southern University and McNeese.

Who are these freaking people listening to? Their governors? Who are the governors listening to? The CDC? Who runs the CDC and the WHO in the UN?

They are listening to grownups who can process complex information and make decisions based on their risk thresholds. Unfortunately, they’re not listening to message board geniuses who know better than anyone.

My son will miss three camp opportunities in June at LSU. It sucks, but I’m not blaming anyone or anything except coronavirus.

We get it. Your son is being recruited by colleges. You’ve mentioned it once or ten times

The point, which you missed, is that actual people are affected, not just internet fanboys. But thanks for your input.

Judge, all due respect these experts have been wrong several times in the past couple months and not just on little things, but how this virus spreads and the death toll. Frankly, I think we live in such a CYA culture you can't get any informtion that isn't worst case scenario. It doesn't help that people keep repeating this information, even after it is found out it was incorrect.

Here is the problem though. Without a vaccine or effective treatments, this will be around for a long damn time. Will our goal be “don’t overwhelm the medical system” as originally planned or “no infections.” If we plan on contact sports anytime soon , we are going to have to get over the “no infections” mantra.

We don't even know if the vaccine will be actually ready in 12-18 months. It could be 5 years. This next group of seniors could be graduating college by then. At some point we have to say, just being a member of society carries risk of death like car accidents and flu transmissions. You can't live scared.

Agree. We are still waiting on an HIV vaccine and I am pretty sure we have spent a boatload of money to get one.

Funny you use the car accident analogy as I also used that one today talking to someone. Yes, we have done some things to lower the risks in cars like seatbelts. But the risk is still there. I promise you I am more worried about my sons getting in a bad car accident than getting Coronavirus.

It’s funny that the America isn’t acting this way about aids when we don’t have a cure for that either but no one seems to think it’s something to put the world on hold for

1. You do know the difference in transmission between HIV and coronavirus, right?
2. There are many drugs (the “cocktail”) that effectively manage AIDS in patients who have it.

As for the rest, I realize the likelihood of 17yos contracting COVID-19 and getting seriously ill is very low, but can you imagine the shite storm if someone did? What if they transmit it to a vulnerable family member? Plus, many older people (including some with underlying conditions) are involved in the camps. What about them? This sport is the opposite of social distancing.

I’m upset at the whole thing but I’m just not mad at anyone (elected, appointed, or otherwise) who has to make tough decisions about an issue that affects people for whom they are responsible.

Amazing how many people are so ignorant to this. Georgia who opened up premature is already spiking in cases again.

The latest info is this may go on for 18 months to 2 years. Do you really think we should completely avoid contact for 2 years if no vaccine?

There is no such thing as complete safety.
